-Troye looked at himself in the mirror as a servant adjusted his vest. She smiled and looked at Troye in the mirror.
"You have your mothers eyes," She said. "You remind me of her more and more each day."
Troye turned around in the mirror and the servant backed away and curtsied.
"I-I'm sorry if i spoke out of turn your highness." She said.
"It's fine," Troye said.
She began to make he way out of the room but before she did she turned around. "Would you like me to send someone to clean?"
Troye walked over to his dressed and pulled out a piece of cloth. "I think I'll manage."
The servant smiled, she'd seemed to remember the days when Queen Laurelle would say the same thing. She bowed her head before leaving and closing the door behind her. Troye headed to the window, he peered out to the city that would soon be his.
He could see the garden and noticed that Alexandria was walking through it. She was wearing a free flowing dress and she was bent over looking at white roses.
Troye quickly put down his cloth and head out of his room, down the corridor and towards the little garden. He walked through the little garden and stood beside the young princess.
"What are you doing?" Troye said.
Alexandria stood up startled. "Oh," She said. "The servants said you were... cleaning when I asked for you. I was just looking around the grounds and I found this little garden, the flowers are beautiful."
Troye crossed his arms across his chest. "You were asking for me," He said.
"I wanted to talk to you." Alexandria.
Troye took a step towards the young princess. "There isn't anything I have to say, nor want to say."
Alexandria opened her mouth and then closed it. For a small man Troye could be very intimidating. She quickly gain her composure and smiled softly.
"I understand, I have something I wish to say to you."
Alexandria waited for Troye to say something and when she realized he wasn't she started talking again.
"Your uncle talked to me after you left last night," She said. "He thinks we should be spending more time together. The castle is beginning to talk and he doesn't like that.
Troye rolled his eyes. "The castle will always talk and my uncle will always have things he doesn't like."
"I-I understand that," Alexandria says. "But I am here to represent Spain. I need your people and mine to know I have a stronghold here. If I am to wed Engl- you, I need to know that if war does come to Spain England will keep word to its alliance."
Troye raised a hand from its place being crossed against his chest. "I don't particularly care what the castle thinks, what my people think and certainly what your people think," Troye says. "Our alliance is true to its word you need not worry about that. As much as either of us would probably hate to admit it, we need this alliance... even if it means being married to each other."
Troye began to walk off but Alexandria quickly called to him.
"It was my mothers wish," She said and Troye stopped but didnt turn around.
"Yours wanted to marry for love mine wanted me to marry to make Spain strong. You don't want this and neither do I, but we both have a country to serve."
Troye sighed. He would never admit this to anyone but his own mind but, Alexandria was right. Troye was a young adult, but he was a bratty young adult with a country to run. Alexandria waited for Troye to say something, she watched his should rise and fall with a great amount, she watched him clench and unclench his fist.
He had one foot ready to turn around. It looked as if he was deciding to turn around. After a few short moments he repositioned his foot and headed back to the castle.
"And could you please stay out of my garden!" Troye yelled.
-
After what happened in the garden Alexandria went to town she, along with a guard, walked by the little shops. The one that caught her eye was the jewelry stand that Troye brought her to when she first arrived.
The boy she saw Troye talking to stood up from behind the little shop and bowed his head. "Your highness," He said. "I see you're here without the prince."
Alexandria smiled. "It seems so," She says. Jason, what it?"
The boy smiled. "Jacob."
The young princess returned the smile. "Jacob," She said as if she was trying to familiarize herself with the name. "When I saw you talking to Troye you seemed.... aquainted."
"Well her royal majesty Queen Laurelle, may she rest in peace, would bring him with her when she would by jewlery. Sometimes we'd even play together when we were small."
Alexandria raised an eyebrow. "He didn't seem happy to see you."
Jacob chuckles. "Most memories of him and his mom he tries to forget, they're too painful. Like here and this little area of shops. His mom would spend a lot time here when King Shaun was away."
"Why?"
Jacob sighed. "Forgive me your highness," He says. "But such information like that can't be said."
The guards on each side of Alexandria prepared to grab their swords but the young princess stopped them just by a wave of her hand.
"It's quite alright Jacob," She says. "I am a stranger to this country. You're probably not used to such questions."
Jacob made a face. "May I say something?"
"I don't see why not."
"You have a good heart your highness," He began. "But I don't know if you know this but Prince Troye still wears black. He's still mourning. Asking and picking at his past is painful for him."
Alexandria was taken aback by what Jacob had said. "You're insightful Jacob," She says. "I wonder why Troye who choose to ignore you from his past."
Jacob chuckles awkwardly. "I wonder the same thing to your highness."
