A week had went by since the attack on the castle.
Troye looked at himself in the mirror, he was dressed in his mourning royal garb. It seemed like just yesterday he was wearing this exact outfit. The servants that were left were the ones helping him, they didn't say a word to him though, they barely looked him in the eye. The loss of Alexandria was felt by all... so was the betrayal of Hunter.
The was a knock at the door before it opened slightly, it was Jacob. Troye looked over his shoulder and at the servants. "Leave us." He said.
The servant bowed their head before exiting and as they did one by one they bowed their heads at Jacob as well. The young knight was still not used to being treated this way, he couldn't even imagine how much Troye had to deal with.
"You're wearing your mourning clothes," Troye said.
Jacob nodded his head. "They were on my bed this morning. I must say..." He walked over to Troye's crown and picked it up. "It feels weird to be out of my armor."
Troye looked down at the crown and grimaced. "That thing is the root of all of this."
Jacob looked down at it. He took a step closer to Troye and placed it on his head. He smiled slightly... it was a sad one though. The first few days after the attack Troye would wake up in the middle of the night screaming. Jacob would spend most nights sleeping on the chair in Troye's room.
Neither of them had heard from Evan so they have no idea what happened with Alexandria and what she did with her body. In all honesty they never thought about looking for her. That wound was too deep for either of them to come to terms with.
"It wasn't the crown it was the people who've worn it... no offense."
Troye sighs. "None taken," He says. "Now... let's go deal with Hunter."
"You sure you wanna do that now?"
"It's been a week Jacob and the Vatican will be in England by nightfall. When that time comes we need to have Hunter's fate sealed and a plan to get you and I on the throne and if we don't..."
"We'll be hanged I know alright," Jacob said. "Okay come on let's get to the dungeon."

"Oh great," Hunter said limping to the cell bars. "I have company... and oh look you two are in your mourning garbs that must mean the princess is dead."
Jacob smirked. "You'll join her soon enough.. although I doubt someone like you will go to heaven."
"The Vatican will be here by nightfall," Troye said. "He's already been briefed on the treachery you've committed but just wait until he sees you in here... you'll be hanged for everything you've done."
Hunter laughs. "And then what... he'll accept the union of two men. That's even a bigger treachery than what I've done. At least I tried to keep the kingdom in check."
"By attempting to kill Troye and Alexandria."
"And what do you know Jacob... you're not even royalty, you know nothing of these affairs."
Jacob leans against the bars of the cell and looks Hunter directly in the eye. "I know that you assassinated Laurelle and Shaun and then attempted to murder Alexandria and Troye. You tried to send the country into anarchy."
"And what would this do, huh?" Hunter says.
"This is going to be what the country needs. Tyranny has held this country a lot longer than it should. And that tyranny would've came to an end if you weren't a little jealous regent."
