a/n: if you ever read someone saying "Mother" when they aren't talking about a mom they're talking about England.

Alexandria and Troye weren't on speaking terms. They were barely on eye contact terms. Whenever Alexandria saw Troye she would completely walk in a different direction.

And it was starting to get obvious that something was wrong between the two of them.

It was the only time Alexandria and Troye were forced to be in the same room, breakfast.

They were making eye contact the entire time as they were eating, as if they were screaming at each other with only their eyes.

"How long have they been like this Sir Jacob?" One of the servants said leaning in.

Jacob looked down and raised an eyebrow. He had never heard anyone refer to him as a 'Sir'. It was weird, but he liked it... kinda.

"Two weeks," Jacob said not taking his eyes off of them. "And it's as awkward for you as it is for me."

"I haven't seem his highness like this since the passing of his majesties."

"You've been here awhile then, yes?"

"Oh yes Sir Jacob, practically grew on the castle grounds."

"Was Tr- his highness always so..."

"Cold? Yes sir, many of us servants suspected he'd rule just like his father when he'd be crowned king."

Jacob took his eyes off the royal couple and looked down at the servant.

"But it wasn't until we witnessed him saving the life of another we knew our Mother was going to be in good hands."

Jacob had lived here all his life, how is it that he has never heard of this.

"He did?"

"Oh yes. His late majesty King Shaun had sentenced someone to death by hanging for the sin of being with a man," She said and Jacob shifted uncomfortably.

"His royal highness stood up for the man and instead of a hanging he banished him to exhile. He was never aloud to come back but at least he kept his life bless him."

Jacob looked over at Troye who was now drinking the wine a servant had brought in. He had begun to wonder why he had never head of this story. As he did a servant timidly walked up to him.

"S-sir Jacob," She said. "Lord Hunter requests his royal highness."

"Of course," He says. "Prince Troye... your uncle wishes to speak to you."

Troye looks over his shoulder before throwing down his napkin and standing up. Typically he'd bow his head when leaving Alexandria at the table but he turned quickly on his heels and walked toward Jacob and the servants. Both servants quickly bow their head as Jacob puts his hands on the hilt on his blade.

"Let's see what my uncle wants now Jacob." Troye said.

-

"Absolutely not."

Lord Hunter broke the news to Troye that he had to take over planning the coronation because she didn't feel comfortable doing it at the moment.

"You are lucky that she even wants to keep the alliance after the stunt you pulled." Lord  Hunter says.

"You mean the stunt you pulled," Troye says. "Even if she ended the alliance she would have no one to go back to. After all you killed her love which is completely barbaric."

"No," Hunter says slamming his hand on the table and standing up abruptly. "What is completely barbaric is the fact you accused me of killing your mother and father. I have worked hard to get you where you are now and this is the thanks that I get."

"I can't thank you for something I don't want nor care for."

Hunter quickly walks around the table and slaps Troye across the face, the rings he was wearing causing to draw blood. Jacob clenched his jaw and closed his eyes trying to refrain from running Hunter through.

Troye kept his gaze down as Hunter got really close to his face, Troye could practically smell the rum and wine on his breath.

"The amount of disrespect you have for everything you have been given is disrespectful. Your mother has filled your head of delusions that you get to marry for love. It makes you weak... just like her."

Hunter then shoulder checks Troye before leaving the study, slamming the door behind him.

The young prince laughed dryly wiping his lip with the back of his hand. "And everyone says they wish to be a royal. If only they knew the true horrors of it."

Jacob walked over to Troye and grabbed the side of his face. "That's gonna leave a bruise... does it hurt?"

"No, I'm use to it  at this point. I'd be shocked if it didn't leave a bruise."

"If it makes you feel any better I wanted to run him through when he hit you like that. He shouldn't do that even if there isn't anything against it."

Troye smiles. "It does, seems like the only time we get moments alone is when I'm in distress."

"Well that is what I'm here for... to save you when you're in distress."

Jacob closes the bap between the two of them sharing a kiss. When the two pulled away Jacob had a weary look on his face.

"What's wrong."

The young guard shakes his head. "It's nothing." He said.

Later that night Alexandria was combing her long black hair in the mirror of her vanity. As she did the heavy wooden door to her room opened and one of her ladys from Spain walked in. Alexandria went about combing her hair for a few more minutes before she put the brush down and pulled her hair into low pony tail.

"You wanted to see me Alexandria."

She turns around in her chair. "I did," She says. "Surely you must know about what happened between me and Troye."

"It's all the castle can talk about."

"I bet it is. When I yelled at him I told him that there isn't anyone in the world he cares about other than himself since everyone he did care for was killed. But it seems I've made a big lapse in my judgment."

"I don't understand." The lady says sitting across from Alexandria.

Alexandria looks down at her nails. "I have found out something just now... and it's something that must stay between us unless I say otherwise. Do you understand?"

She nodded her head.

"It seems that Troye does care for someone. In particular his guard... Jacob." She says smiling to herself.

"How-How could you be so sure?"

She shrugs. "I saw Jacob kiss him. Troye fancies the company of men, which explains why he had always been so distant with me. No matter, it won't be a problem soon enough."

"Why?"

She smiles deviously. "I know a friend by the name of revenge and surely it will do them justice."
