"I know you can hear me," Troye yelled to the midnight sky. "I know you're there."

It was silent.

"Is this what you wanted is this what your righteousness plan was, someones death is on my  hands because of you..." He thought to himself.

"Someone elses death..." He said quietly.

Troye looked at the sky again. He wondered how Rose was doing and if she was disappointed in him as much as he is.

He didn't mean to cause the death of Alexandria's loved one. In fact, he had completely forgotten about it. Troye had actually begun to like her in a friends sort of way. Now, because of his stupidity he lost her... probably forever.

Then he yelled at Jacob as if he was nothing more than a royal guard which he obviously is. Probably ruined his chances with him too all because he thought he saw an easy way out to destroying his uncle.

"I wish you were here Rose," Troye said. "You always seemed to calm me down."

"...because you never had walls with me." A voice said.

Troye turned around and standing in front of him was Rose. He shook his head as he took a step closer. "Rose," He said. "But aren't you-."

"Dead," She says and Troye cringed. "I am."

"Then how are you here?"

She smiled. "I heard you."

Troye reached out to touch her face but his hand went through her as if she was nothing but thin air... which she kinda was in a way.

"Did you feel that?"

She shook her head. "No," She say. "But I remember what it felt like."

She walks past Troye and then over to the little garden she squats down and looks at the white roses.

"Do you remember when your mother got thos garden," She says. "We'd be out here for hours... just sitting down on the cobblestone."

Troye smiled. "It was my favorite place."

"And then," She picks up what looks like a dead flower. "Your father had it destroyed... it was the first time i had seen you sad..."

She stands up and looks at him. "The first time I saw you build that wall around your heart."

"Rose..."

"I know you feel guilty," She says. "About Alexandria... about me. Those things were out of your control Troye, and deep down you know it too. You just don't want to believe it."

Troye clenches his jaw and looks down, he could feel his head beginning to pound again. Rose stepped closer and even though she couldn't grab his she put her hand under his chin.

The young prince looked up, biting his bottom lip.

"It's okay to cry you know," She says. "It's okay to let yourself feel."

Troye closed his eye letting a tear slide down his face. He looked up at Rose who was smiling softly.

"I miss you so much." Troye says.

"And I you, but it seems fate had other plans. Just promise me on thing okay?"

Troye nodded.

"Stop bottling up your emotions... all you're going to end up doing is hurting yourself. More than you already do." She said looking down at his bruised knuckles.

"You're a lot stronger than you know." She says and then right before his eyes Rose vanishes as id she was never even there to begin with.

When she vanished Troye let out a shaky breath and dropped to the ground.  He felt as if something had punched him in the gut.

"Troye," Someone called.

Troye stood up and turned around. It was Jacob and he looked worried. "Jacob?"

The young guard ran up to him. "My goodness there you are," He says. "When the maids didn't see you in your room I thought something bad happe-."

Troye threw himself on Jacob and started crying into his chest and lucky for Troye, Jacob wasn't wear his armor. Jacob looked down at Troye before putting a hand on his back and rubbing soothing circles.

"I'm so sorry," Troye says. "I so damn sorry Jacob."

"Why are you sorry."

"I'm so awful to you," Troye says. "I treat you as if you're nothing more than my guard. But you are more than that, Jacob."

Jacob pulled Troye away and looked at him. "Troye..." He said. "I'm not mad at you for snapping at me."

"Y-you're not?"

"No," The taller man says with a chuckle. "I was upset with you but because you're afraid to let me see you sad."

Troye looks down at his bruised knuckles. The other man looked down with Troye and grabbed his hands.

"This is what I'm talking about," Jacob says. "You have to stop doing this to yourself. You've carried  this pain for far too long."

Troye looked at their hands gripped tightly onto one another. Troye's hands looked so bad compared to Jacob's. He found it ironic, the once common boy had better hands than a prince who  had been cared for all his life.

"Just let me in Troye," Jacob says. "That's all I ask of you... all I will ever ask for you."

The two looked at each other. With shaky hands Troye put his hand on the side of Jacobs face. The other boy looked down at the princes hand and placed his own over Troye's.

"Are you sure?" Jacob says.

Troye nodded his head and pulled their heads together, sharing a small but meaningful kiss. When they pulled apart Troye rested his forehead on Jacob's chest and sighed.

"I'm sorry," Troye said. "I so so sorry."
