It was a few days after the trios "visit" to Evan hut, and during that few days they has begun to notice the lack of guards posted around the castle. There was still enough to make it seem like they had a full staff but if you looked close enough (and the three of them did) you could tell that the guards were beginning to get smaller and smaller.

"How long do you think until we're attacked," Princess Alexandria said as she looked in the mirror.

"It's hard to say Princess," Jacob said. "Guards are slowly leaving their places at the castle, I can tell it's soon though. You and Troye need to get out of here-."

"And what will that look like to Hunter?"

Just as Alexandria said that a loud bang went off in the west wing as well as one of Alexandria's ladies comes running through the door.

"I'm extremely sorry your highness but an attack was made on the west wing. Several servants and very few guards have been injured."

Jacob and Alexandria looked at each other. "You were saying?" Jacob said.

The young knight walked over to the panic stricken girl and grabbed her shoulder. "Where is his highness Prince Troye?"

"I-I don't-."

Another loud bang caused everyone to jump. Jacob looked over to Alexandria who was hold her stomach. Jacob quickly ran over to her and grabbed her hand. "We need to go!"

"But Troye-."

"Will be fine for a little while," Jacob said. "In the meantime we need to get you out of here."

Jacob grabbed Alexandria's hand and rushed her out of the room. The two of them looked down the hallway and saw what looked like the guards fighting each other. One of them casted their sword in the direction of the two with a wicked grin on their face.

"Get her, capture the princess!" He yelled.

"Come on we need to get you out of here!"

Several guards starting running after Jacob and the princess. At first they were able to get some distance between the two of them but Alexandria's dresses started getting in the way. They managed to make it all the way to the west wing before Alexandria stopped running.

"Alexandria..." Jacob said. "I know you're tired but we need to keep going."

"It's this damned dress," She says. "Hand me your sword."

Reluctantly, Jacob handed her the sword and in one quick movement she cut her dress just slightly below her knees. She then handed the sword back to Jacob who had a surprised look on her face.

"Uh... let's go we're almost out." Jacob said.

They started running again and this time they didn't stop until they were out of the castle. Once they got out of the castle they saw Troye leaning against the carriage with cuts on his face and he was holding his shoulder.

"Troye!" Jacob and Alexandria say as they run over to him.

"Thank god you're okay!" Alexandria said.

The loud clashing of swords coming from the castle caused all of them to jump. Jacob looked at the men fighting and then back at the two royals. Both of them were looking back at
Jacob knowing what he was about to say.

"Jacob..."

"You know I have to..." He said. "This was the battle Evan's been waiting for and I need to help fight it. Getting you two out of the castle was my first priority and now I need to fight to ensure the future of this country."

He looks over his shoulder and smirked at Troye. "After al I still have to buy that land don't I Troye."

Jacob was about to run back into the castle but Troye quickly grabbed his arm stopping him from doing so. When Jacob turned around Troye had a blush going across his face.

"Troye..."

"Just come back to me...please?"

Jacob smiled and cupped the side of the young princes face. "I always do don't I?"

And with that Jacob ran back into the castle.. It took everything in Troye not to run in there after him. Despite the fact he wanted to go in there and fight alongside Jacob he knew it wouldn't help anyone if he was killed.

"Has anyone seen the prince and princess!" Someone  called from the castle.

"Come on," Princess Alexandria said pulling Troye towards the carriage. "We need to go and we need to go now."

_

As the carriage trotted through the woods Troye looked out the window. He couldn't help but think about Jacob. What he was doing... if he was okay. He remembered all the times they had their pretend battles... he never thought it would come down to a real one.

"Troye..." Alexandria says. "He's going to be alright."

"I know, it's just that all these years I grew up so sheltered from everything I never stopped to realize how corrupted my country has become. And now that I have it's too late..."

Alexandria places her hand onto Troye's knee. "Everything is going to be fine."

The two smile at each other before the carriage came to a complete halt. Troye raised an eyebrow before looking out the window.

"How much do you want to bet it's an ambush." Troye says.

He get out of the carriage and walks around to see the man who was supposed to be "driving" hunched over and bleeding. When he got to the front her saw his uncle and several other knights standing behind him.

"So..." Troye said. "It's come down to this Uncle... tell me, was this your plan from the start? Run me and Alexandria away?"

"Honestly boy... no. I would've been king of this retched land if it wasnt for your father. The boy who could "do no wrong"."

The older man laughed as Alexandria stepped out of the carriage.

"Honestly though my boy you are your mothers son, I'm surprised you figured out what poisoned your dear mother and father."

By now Alexandria was standing besides Troye. Hunter looked over at her and chuckled.

"Such a shame your beloveded had to get involved. He was a good man... or so I was told."

"You're bluffing."

Hunter gestures behind him. "Am I," Just as he said that a guard handed him a sack. "Why don't you ask him yourself."

Alexandria let out a short scream  as the guard pulled the sack. Under it was a severed head with dried blood covering its neck.

Troye shifter uncomfortably and Alexandria hid in Troye's shoulder.

"He even said you name as I chopped his head off. Who knew Spaniards bleed so much... wonder how much you will."

The next few moments went by in slow motion. With a raise of his hand the guards charged but before they could get any closer they all fell to the ground. Troye and Alexandria looked around before their eyes met with Evan who was cackling maliciously. The entire world seemed to stop almost as if it was just the four of them.

"You might want to hold on for this next part." Evan yelled.

Troye and Alexandria gripped onto each other and the air around them started thicken. He could somewhat see Hunter through the fog. He looked insane, his hair was a mess... you could almost say his eyes were bulging out of his head.

He remembered when he would come and visit the castle when Troye was younger. He always had a smile on his face and stories to tell from all of his adventures.

Now look at him, he's bitter... bitter from the crown. The crown is the true reason things are the way they are. Troye would still have his parents, his uncle... Rose. The crown is a heavy thing that not many people can bare.

"If only you knew Troye..." Evan said.
