Emotional comfortability

The feeling of having let someone who might have been 'the' one go. That was how Jennifer was feeling one lonely afternoon in her ratty apartment. It had been about seven months since she had gotten her new part-time job at the radio station. Nowadays her parents were helping her a lot financially to make ends meet. She regretting quitting her old job, but not because of the fact that she made more money there. Jennifer missed him.

She stepped off the scale and let out a sigh of defeat noting her less-than-impressive progress on her weight loss goal. Her roommate Kendra was always telling her that losing weight was the last thing she needed to focus on, but lately, it was all she thought about. Her strict dieting and exercising would all pay off when she would finally reach the day when her goal weight was met.

Jennifer always had dreams of being on the radio, but her editing job at the station was bringing an unpleasant emotion that suggested this may not be the path for her. Deep down she knew the real reason she quit her last full-time job was that she was always too exhausted and frustrated to watch her weight. She figured if she were to continue punching the clock each week, her body would gradually blow up until obesity.

She visualizes the reaction on Tyler's face when she reconnects with him, and he sees how much weight she has lost after all these months. They had hung out on a number of occasions when they were co-workers at her last job, but Jennifer would always withdraw from advancing the relationship. She didn't want to start dating people until she felt comfortable in our own skin. Besides, there's no way Tyler would want to date a fat girl.

Jennifer notices that no matter how much money she makes each month, her parents are willing to pay the remainder to ensure she makes rent on time. They seem to have a greater fear than her of being thrown out onto the streets penniless, and growing more frustrated and bored with her new radio job, Jennifer decides to quit. Sure enough, by the time rent was due to her parents understandably paid the extra amount, supporting her decision to find her next path.

She continues to work out vigorously, spending the early morning hours jogging through the neighborhood. She is determined to hit her goal weight, and after nine months of persistence and hard work, she steps off the scale in a victory. Her friends and family notice her weight loss and praise her on social media. Jennifer feels like the world is her oyster, and she takes advantage of this moment to call her old co-worker, Tyler.

They arrange to have dinner to reunite after the nine months since they last saw each other. Tyler is genuinely impressed by her new body, as it is the first thing he mentions before they exchange a hug. The two get to talking and pick up where they last left off as friends. Being more emotionally secure now, Jennifer makes clear of her intentions with passive flirts to which Tyler graciously obliges. The two continue to go on more dates and after it's established that they are officially a couple, they get to talking about old emotions.

Jennifer admits that she always had a crush on Tyler and would always picture the dirtiest things in her mind whenever he was nearby. She says that she didn't want to start dating him until she was able to lose a significant amount of weight.

Tyler confesses that he always had a thing for her as well and always wanted a relationship with her. He felt that she was sending obvious signals to him that he perceived as Jennifer not being interested in him. Growing more comfortable with his new companion, Tyler drops a dangerous confession.

He says that when he first saw her after the nine months, he didn't even notice a change in her body. The only reason he knew she lost weight was because of what he read on social media. Jennifer's first instinctual impulse was one of indignation until she recognized what truly had happened.

Her last job was a prestigious and lucrative opportunity that she threw away due to her insecurities. She had in her grasp financial stability and a loving partner, but her desperation to lose weight had blinded her to her blessings.

The day Tyler made this confession was a day of hostile exchanges and passive-aggressive accusations. By the time Jennifer's head hit the pillow, she had already forgiven Tyler feeling her unconditional love toward him. The next day was one of forgiveness and understanding, and the relationship between Tyler and Jennifer grew stronger.
