Demi
She bloody took my pillow. I pursed my lips together as Anzon laughed as if it was the most hilarious thing in the world. "And how am I supposed to sleep like this?!" I complained.
"Demi. You're over a thousand years old, have survived out in the wild for centuries, and now you're telling me that you can't sleep without a pillow?" Ma crossed her arms at me. "Let the poor girl keep it. If you refuse to be near her that's the least you could do."
"The Caelestis are murderers!"
"Demi." She sighed. "I'm not, in any way, undermining your past or denying that the Caelestis are heartless, but I do not think your mate is like that. She is a very sweet girl-"
"Who bloody took my pillow!" Anzon burst into laughter again, rolling around the ground. "Get out, you immature jerk!" Ma pinched the bridge of her nose tightly as Anzon stumbled out, still gaffawing.
"If you want your pillow back, then go ask her for it, nicely."
"Seriously, Ma?" I looked at her incredulously.
"And you might as well give the poor girl something in exchange." I gaped at her as she left my room. Was this her plan? To let my mate take my pillow so she could get me to go after her? It was just like Ma to play matchmaker. Why did it bother me so much that she had my pillow?
I sighed internally. I would have to wait until another time to find an excuse to go get it back. If I went now for this sole purpose, she would, no doubt, make assumptions that I had actually wanted to see her.
But you do want to see her.
The little voice inside my head was starting to get quite annoying. Although I despised the Caelestis royal family with every inch of my being, I could not deny that messing with my mate had been incredibly entertaining. She had watched me like a lost puppy, which was such a drastic change in attitude in comparison to the last time I had seen her in the common lands. I had to admit that I liked the change. Or at least this version of her was slightly less intolerable. I had meant to scare her a little by letting her feel my fangs and hopefully frighten her away in the process, but instead, she shocked me when she leaned her head back, as if giving me permission to bite her - not that I needed permission. She was mine.
I had to get these thoughts out of my head. I decided to go feed in an attempt to clear my head.

A week laterElliana
I had completely healed when I returned home. The last week had been uneventful to say the least. I could not shake the strange feeling that my brother was planning something, but this time I didn't hear anything from the nobles.
My mother had been requesting to speak with me, so today I finally made my way to her quarters reluctantly. I knocked thrice on the door and waited.
"Enter."
I walked in to see my mother and brother standing about an arm's length away from each other. I kept my face blank and curtsied. "Mother. Brother."
"Ah, Elliana." My brother suddenly began to approach me. I kept my emotionless mask to hide my distaste. "Wherever have you been all week? We've been meaning to speak to you."
"I was under the impression that only mother had to speak to me." I replied quietly.
"Now is that any way to address your older brother?" He tsked.
"What do you want?" I deadpanned.
He narrowed his eyes at me. "You're not going to win. Did you really think that the nobles would support a little girl who snuck out during the annual ceremony and caused a riot?"
