Elliana

"You want me to do what?!" Lena stared at me incredulously.

"I know you heard me the first time."

"Sister..."

"Just do it." My youngest sister, Vivienne, stood in the room with us. She had volunteered to help Lena practice the memory spell. I couldn't do so myself in case something went wrong and I had to teach Lena how to rectify it. Although I was not completely sure that Sebastian was above bullying her into revealing what we had been practicing, I knew that I could erase the memory of us practicing if necessary.

Lena still hesitated. I turned to Vivi. "Vivi, are you entirely sure about this?"

"Yes, Elli." She fiddled with her fingers.

"Okay. Now what don't you mind forgetting?"

"Sebastian's stupid face." Lena burst into laughter. "What? He lied to me again and called me a spoiled brat." Out of my three blood siblings, Vivienne definitely took after me.

I frowned. "Still, Vivi, don't say that. If he hears you..."

"Do you disagree?"

"That's not what I-never mind." I sighed. "What do you actually not mind forgetting?"

She rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "I'd like to forget the time I fell in a rose bush in the elders' gardens."

I turned to Lena. "Okay, Lena, close your eyes and concentrate on the memory you wish to erase." I began to pace around Lena. "Then open your eyes, and I want you to repeat the incantation after me." Using flash, I spoke to her.

"Memoriae aeserium. Reach out and turn your hand in a counterclockwise direction. Imagine yourself grabbing the memory in your hand and taking it. Once you see a blue mist surround her, you will know you've done it correctly. And erase her memory of the incantation too."

Lena gave the slightest nod. "Memoriae aeserium." She enunciated in a strong voice, extending her hand like I had demonstrated. Nothing happened.

"It helps if you look into her eyes the first time. Find the memory within, if that makes any sense."

"Memoriae aeserium." She repeated quietly. The familiar blue glow surrounded my sister's head.

Vivi gasped and her hands flew to her head. "Caesero!" I immediately yelled. The blue mist disappeared. I turned to Lena. "You need to concentrate." I gritted my teeth. "Take only the memory you need." I turned to Vivi. "You okay?"

She nodded and rubbed her head, giving me a tiny smile.

"My apologies, Princess Vivienne." Vivi smiled at her and shrugged.

"Okay. Try again." I turned to Vivi. "Don't worry. I'm here."

"I'm not worried. You are." She retorted, causing me to roll my eyes and chuckle.

"Okay, Lena. Try again."

She nodded and extended her hand again. "Memoriae aeserium." This time, Vivi did not make a sound as the blue mist formed. I smiled proudly. A minute later, it disappeared. Lena glanced at me worriedly as Vivi looked around in confusion.

"Did it work?"

"Vivi, remember when you fell in a rose bush?"

"What are you talking about?" She stared at me blankly.

I shared a smile with Lena. "Good job."

Vivi looked even more confused. "I'm hungry. I'm going to the kitchens." She turned to leave.
