Demi
We arrived at Ma's house just after sunset. The colours painted the sky a beautiful gold and violet tone. It's was breathtaking, but it was nothing in comparison to my sweet girl, who hadn't stopped smiling since this morning.
We walked up to the door with our hands laced together. Occasionally, I would pull her hand up to my lips and kiss it, making her giggle. The door swung open. Ma had most likely heard our footsteps as we didn't even need to knock.
She quickly ushered us in and fussed over Elli in a motherly manner. I could tell she was enjoying it immensely. To simply say that the Queen was not exactly an ideal mother was a large understatement.
Ma immediately dragged Elli off to the kitchen. "Has Demi been feeding you, honey? You're so skinny!" Elli bit her lip, clearly trying to hold back her laughter as she nodded. "Are you sure?"
I cleared my throat. "Yes, she's sure, mother." It was then that she finally looked at me, as if she was shocked to see me in the kitchen.
"How many meals do you feed her in a day? What are you cooking?"
"Mother!" I say, embarrassed. "Just because it's been awhile since I was human doesn't mean I don't remember anything. Elli isn't a pet either, I don't need to "feed" her. She knows to eat when she's hungry." I turned to my mate, sighing. "I apologize."
Elli simply giggled, amusement dancing in her eyes. I felt my heart melt at the sight. Whatever, I could endure Ma's antics if they made her smile. I would do just about anything to make her smile. Ma looked between us with a knowing smirk. "Why don't the two of you go upstairs and get settled in while I prepare dinner?"
"Oh no - I wouldn't want to trouble you. I'm not that hungry." My sweet girl immediately protested.
Ma chuckled lightly. "You won't be the only one eating. We're all going to sit at the table and eat as a family."
I chuckled in amusement too. "I don't even recall the last time we ate human food together."
"Now why don't the both of you get settled in before dinner is ready?"
"Settled?" Elli raised an eyebrow.
"Well you're staying the night at least." Ma stated in a firm tone.
"Do we have a choice in the matter?" I said in a teasing tone, causing Ma to swat at my head. "I mean, we would prefer some privacy..."
Elli's entire face went bright red. "Demi!"
"What?" I feigned innocence as I looked at her. "I don't recall you protesting last night." Her eyes widened and she began to make tiny choking noises.
"I've soundproofed your room. Even for vampire hearing." Ma raised an eyebrow at me. "Please refrain from damaging the furniture though."
Elli's head whipped around to face Ma. "Oh no, that's not necess-"
I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her into me. "Thank you. We appreciate that."
Elli looked like she was about to die from embarrassment as she lowered her head to hide behind her hair. I chuckled lightly and stroked her face gently with my palm.
Anzon rolled his eyes at us and turned to Ma. "Do I get a say in this?"
She glared at him and he held his hands up defensively. "Jealous?" I smirked at him before kissing Ma on the cheek and pulling Elli off towards upstairs.
Elli was silent with her head lowered the entire walk up the stairs. She didn't speak until we were inside my room and I had locked the door. "Demi!" She exclaimed in a shrill voice as I smirked at her and laid down on the bed.
