After getting dressed in a long-sleeved black shirt tucked into faded washed skinny jeans and a pair of red chucks, I headed out with Calvin. He had me wait by the gate until he got his car from the garage - which by the way, was a really nice blue convertible.
I hopped in the passenger's seat, really excited to ride in such an expensive car. As we drove off, Calvin's voice broke through my daze. "I know it was kind of sudden to ask you out like this, but I thought it would be a good time to get to know you."
"I see." I played with the strap of my black satchel. "Where are we going?"
"You're hungry right? We can go get Subway or something." He shrugged back, voice getting louder as we picked up speed. I nodded, going quiet. The only sounds I could hear after that was wind whooshing past my ears. The sun had already gone down, making the air even chiller. I was glad I wore long sleeves.
I found myself staring at Calvin's profile. He had a really nice jawline, greenish brown eyes that were down-turned at the edges, and his lips were a rose petal pink that added a beautiful contrast to his face. I couldn't help but think that his appearance really suited his personality. Even under his knitted grey sweater, I could tell there was firm muscles underneath - all in all, he was a pretty hot guy.
I tore my gaze away, blushing. What was wrong with me? I barely know him and I'm already getting flustered by him. I slapped both of my cheeks with my hands, causing Calvin to send me a puzzled glance. I waved him off and we continued our ride until we drove into a little Subway's parking lot.
Calvin held the door open for me (like a true gentleman) as I walked into the little diner. There was a girl behind the register, chewing on ice like it wasn't fifty degrees outside. She boredly gave me a once over. "Hello, welcome to Subway."
Her grey eyes lifted to Calvin and the reaction was almost comical. Her eyebrows shot up, before her jaw went slack and then in a half of a second, her expression turned flirtatious. "What can I get you?" Remembering me, her eyes narrowed in my direction. I could tell what she was thinking: What are you to him?
Not giving her the luxury of an indication, I walked up to the glass and peered inside even though I already knew what I wanted. "Six inch meatball marinara with provolone cheese and can I have it toasted?" The worker nodded and maintaining her professionalism, asked if I wanted any extra condiments, to which I said no, before sticking the sandwich into the giant toaster oven.
The worker turned to Calvin. "What can I get you, cutie?" Criiiiiinge.
"A double chocolate chunk cookie is fine." He answered. "And a water. You want a drink, Xania?" He glanced over at me as the employee sped back and forth behind the counter to get the cookie.
"A sprite is fine." The girl pulled out two cups and handed them both to Calvin. He got both of our drinks and set them down at a booth.
The woman pulled my sandwich out of the oven and wrapped it in the subway paper. "That'll be seven-sixty three." Calvin handed her a ten dollar bill, got the change and then returned to the booth where we both sat down. I didn't even hesitate to eat my sub. Calvin placed his face in his hand, watching me with like you would a zoo animal. Great, now I was a spectacle.
"What?" I asked after swallowing the first bite.
Calvin smiled and shook his head. "You look cute."
"I've been told I look like a chipmunk when I eat." I responded, puffing my cheeks out. Calvin smiled wider, the tips of his canines poking his lips. I never noticed how prominent they were until now.
"You kinda do, but it's cute. Trust me." Calvin broke his cookie in half, putting a piece into his mouth. Is it bad to say that I found the way his jaw moved attractive?
