My first class went by without a hitch, the only takeaway being the fact that people stared at me. Hella hard. It wasn't anything I wasn't used to at this point - I got that everywhere in Eastwood so far, but every little movement resulted into several heads turning my way.
I made the mistake of dropping my pencil during the work session and everyone's eyes were on me.
At the end of class, I walked into the hall, clutching my bags. I didn't see anyone waiting for me, so I just stood by the door.
"You're the Athams' new housemate, huh?"
I glanced up from my phone and saw a light skinned black girl with big black eyes. She gave me a pretty dull expression, but I couldn't help but admire her perfect curly bun and perfect style. Not to mention she was absolutely gorgeous.
"Uh, yeah." I smiled awkwardly. "I'm -"
"Xania Robinson," The girl cut in, "Almost the entire school knows. It isn't common that the normal girl parades around with guys like the Atham brothers."
I let out a forced chuckle. "They're the popular guys then."
"Something like that." After a beat, her eyes glanced around the calm hallways. "It's a little weird for you to be fine with them leaving you here all alone considering-" Something passed over her face. "...You don't know."
I didn't know how to answer so I shrugged. "I guess not. What should I know?"
The girl shook her head. "Nothing. It's just that the brothers are really protective. If you get hurt - even a paper cut - go visit them. They'll be just about fighting each other to help you."
Suddenly, a hand wrapped around my shoulders and pulled me to a hard chest. I glanced up and saw Warren, but before I could speak he did. "Nia. Leave."
The girl, Nia, smiled darkly. "Sorry, Warren, did I step on your toes?"
"Nia," He said in the same blank tone. "Leave. Now."
Nia let out a light chuckle and glanced at me. "Remember what I said, 'kay?"
I didn't know whether or not to nod or not so I smiled hesitantly instead. "It was nice meeting you, Nia." The girl gave me a short wave and walked away.
Warren's arm tightened around me. "What did she tell you?"
"Nothing," I answered honestly. "She just commented that you guys were protective. With which I agree," I grabbed his arm and removed it from my shoulder.
Warren frowned distastefully. "Don't hang around Nia, okay, she's not as friendly as she seems."
I nodded. "Okay."
"Seriously." Warren gave me a pointed look.
I bit my lip, trying hard not to smile, but it slipped out. "I'm sorry, I can't take you seriously Warren, you're the flirtatious one not the scary, mean one." As soon as I said that, Warren pushed me harshly against the wall. I let out a gasp, but it stopped short at the expression on Warren's face.
"Let's get one thing clear, princess," His deep blue eyes connected with mine and I suddenly felt afraid. "I am the scary one." I glanced down uthe hallway, but if anyone saw us they ignored it. When I attempted to push him off of me, he simply secured my wrists over my head with one of his own.
"Warren." I said in a low tone. "Let me go, this isn't funny."
He raised an unaffected eyebrow. "Who says I'm joking?"
I pulled against his grip, but it didn't budge. God, I needed to work out. His blue eyes dropped to my neck and I heard an almost humming sound from him before he suddenly let me go. I pushed him the rest of the way off, "If you do that again, I'll kick you so hard in the balls that your lineage goes bye-bye."
