• I don't think I've told you yet •
I look up from my phone in my hands over across the deck at Taylor. He was huddled around the grill with Alec and Oliver. Looking like total dudes as they held beers in their hands and left us girls to our own devices while they tended to their meat. However, Taylor took the time to sneak his phone out and text me. I furrow my brow and he smiles a me, lifting his beer in my direction before bringing to his lips and winking.
I return my gaze to ask him what he hasn't told me but I already have my answer.
• but you look absolutely stunning today. •
Butterflies tickle the walls of my stomach and I let them lift up the corners of my mouth as well. I lift my gaze up from my phone and back over to Taylor. He was absorbed in the fire Alec was showing off over the grill, laughing as he scratched at his exposed chest. Today he wore his white button down with blue polk-a-dots open to show off the muscles and tattoos beneath his shirt. Matching it with a pair of deep blue swim trunks and sporting bare feet just in case we decided to head in to the pool. He looked downright good enough to eat.
But I'm going to tell him that. It'd only stroke his already oversized ego.
I bring my attention back to my phone and quickly type out my reply.
• you're only saying that because I'm wearing one of Brooke's bathing suits. •
I had managed to 'forget' packing one. I wasn't to thrilled to expose myself after what happened so I took it out of my luggage. Though when the group agreed to have a backyard barbecue and hang around the pool today I mentioned not having one and Brooke let me borrow on of the multiple she had brought.
Looking up at Taylor I watch him scoff back at my reply. His thumb moving across the bottom half of his phone.
• I thought so this morning when we were meditating too and you looked completely at peace. You're fucking stunning, Char. •
• you peeked ?! •
I jerk my gaze up at him and I can just barely see him rolling his eyes as the corner of his mouth curls up into a smile.
• Taylor!
If you peek, how are you focusing? •• I can focus and still gaze at my beautiful fiancé. •
• you gazed ?! •
I gear up to type out this long over explanatory text as to why it is important for him to focus all his attention on his breathing, but my phone is plucked effortlessly from my fingers. Frowning I look up, using my hand as a shield and squinting at the figure hovering above me.
It takes me a minute but I manage to pick out the golden straws of hair, the slender build and piercing blue eyes. Her lips curl into a smile and before I could object she flops down on the lounge chair at my feet and rests my phone in the space besides us.
I drop my hand and stare at her without the sun in my face. Oliver's shades were pushing her hair and bangs away from her faze, revealing the freckles across her nose and the deep honey bronze color of her skin. I try to loosen the knot in my throat as I offer her a smile.
