I warmed up to the party once I had two peach vodka and sweet tea cocktails flowing through my system. My blood was warming my body from my inside out and the music moved my limbs with the fluidity of the alcohol. Even my stomach felt settled and free from the knots that permanently seemed to be tangled inside of it.
I move from person to person as I dance. Finding some new to sway and bop to the music. At one point I'm apart of a grinding sandwich as I grind on Brooke and she grinds on Alec, Taylor behind me.
He stays by my side. Making sure that I'm alright and having fun. Even though he dances with me I can feel the apprehension in his muscles. Like he was waiting for me to break.
"I'm thirsty!" I shout at the blonde with pink and blue glowing in her hair who I'm pretty sure is Bonnie. She nods her head, holds up her drink and keeps swaying her hips to the music.
I pat her shoulder and stumble off, only tripping for a second as my ankles cross before my feet could even move. Taylor's quick to catch me, hooking his arms under mine and uprighting me again. I giggle and pat his chest before meandering over to the kitchen.
I somehow manage to grab a cup from the package, pour myself some sweet tea and then reach for the bottle of peach vodka before being interrupted.
"Heeeeyy," I drawl, blinking up at my boyfriend. "What gives?" My lips fall onto a pout and he sets the bottle back on the counter.
"Don't you think you've had enough to drink?" Taylor arches his brow at me and I manage to snort and blow a raspberry simultaneously.
"I only had two!" I hold up my fingers and miraculously hold up the peace sign. My lips curl into a smile at my accomplishment.
"Yeah and you can't even stand still." Taylor rests his hands on my shoulders and I stop swaying. I blink as my eyes widen.
"So the world isn't spinning?" I look up at him with a childlike innocence. His lips smile and he laughs.
"No the world is spinning, we just can't feel it." He brushes his fingers through my hair— which I had let down some time ago. "Maybe you should just drink the tea okay?" He nods until I nod with him. With my affirmation he pushed my cup up to my lips and forces me to drink.
I moan at the sugary taste. Tilting my head back and gulping down as much of it as I can before it spills over the sides of my mouth and cheeks. When I'm done I wipe at my mouth with my arms and then my fingers and then a belch escapes me.
"Excuse me," I giggle, closing my eyes and smiling up at Taylor.
"You're excused," he mumbles before leaning forward and pressing his lips against mine. I giggle some more and wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him closer while also lifting up on my tip toes.
He surprisingly tastes of skittles and for a brief moment I wonder where he was hiding them. Before I could ask I'm flinching as a flash strikes the side of my face. I turn away from Taylor and look at the culprit. Taylor is completely unbothered as his lips nestle against my neck.
"I think it's time we give the internet a different photo to talk about," Cassidy says while her phone screen lights up her face with white light.
Austin sighs besides her. "Cass, don't—"
"What harm could it do?" Bonnie appears on her other side. I narrow my eyes at her and try to pull away from Taylor but he pulls me back. So instead I turn around in his arms.
"Exactly!" Cass cheers, finishing up with her phone and tucking it away.
I open my mouth to say something but the alcohol makes my tongue heavy and a few coherent thoughts into tongue twisters. Not even a second after Cass tucks away her phone does mine vibrate against Taylor's hip.
