A smile seemed to always be plastered on your face as of late. The last few moons really. The other servants didn't know what to make of it.
Ever since the Bolton's has taken over Winterfell, everything had been terrible. Yes, when Theon was in charge is wasn't that great either, but it was something about the Bolton's. Just thinking of their name made a person shiver. They were cruel and were not afraid to show it.
Which was why you sudden attitude change was surprising and confusing for everyone. The last time you were this smiley was when the youngest Stark children were still here. The Bolton's were so mean and cruel to everyone that it was a mystery to everyone.
Except for you and Ramsey. You couldn't tell anyone what was going on between the two of you, and you doubted anyone would believe you even if you did. He was so sweet towards you, whispering flirty comments in your ear when he passed you in the hall, appearing at random times out of know where and taking you on one of his "adventures" as he liked to call them.
Really he would just take you to different parts of the keep to show you something. Sometimes it was a view, sometimes a tapestry, occasionally he just wanted to stare at you. He had been doing this for a little over a month before you let him bed you.
It wasn't your first time. Your family had wed you to some young night who was killed in battle, so you had bed him. But Ramsey has been different. It hadn't been forced like your wedding night, he was surprisingly gentle. The first time at least.
Even thinking about him made the grin on your face grow even more, if possible, as you make your way to his chambers. He had asked to see you earlier that day. You had been relieved of your duties late, which seemed to be happening a lot lately. It annoyed Ramsey slightly but he understood that it was your job.
You paused when you turned down the hall that his chambers were located in. There was usually a guard standing outside but right now there wasn't one. You shrug and start walking again, assuming that it must be the guards switching. You brush dirt from your skirts that isn't even actually there, but stop suddenly.
There are sounds coming from his chambers. Sounds that sound surprisingly similar to what you sound like when you visit his chambers. You push the chamber doors open and the sight in front of you breaks your heart.
Ramsey is laying on the bed with a girl that you recognize from the stables on top of him, both of them naked. She leans forward and connects their lips while his hands go to her hips and helps her continue the movements. She turns her head and gasps when she sees you standing their.
"I don't recall telling you to come in," Ramsey growls. You don't know what you were expecting, but the glare he sends your way was not it. "Close the door on your way out."
You turn and run out of the room, continuing to run down the halls. Tears are streaming down your face and as you step into the courtyard they feel as if they freeze to your skin. It's early enough that the gates are still open so you go out of them, know one paying you any attention.
As soon as you are away from prying eyes you run into the woods. With your vision blurred from tears, you are actually surprised that you don't trip sooner than you do. You foot gets caught on a root and you land on the ground hard, twisting your ankle. That is what seems to fully make you break.
You lay on the ground, a heaving and sobbing mess. It just doesn't seem possible to you, that he would do this. You thought he cared for you, he even said he would wed you if his father approved. And then there he was, fucking another woman after all of his promises to you. The Bolton's were a cruel family and now you understood why. Everything was a game to him. Everyone was just a chess piece that could be used and then thrown aside only to be replaced.
You don't know how long you lay there but night has truly come upon Winterfell. You body shakes, but not from crying anymore, now it's from the cold. You slowly sit up and look around. You have been in Winterfell for years and know the woods by heart, but this area you don't recognize. You stand up and take a step, only to fall back on the ground.
You pull your skirt up slightly and tentatively take off your boot. Your ankle is swollen and purple. It's only now that you remember the reason you had been on the ground in the first place. You slowly put your boot back on, tying it very loosely.
A howl in the distance makes you jump and you back up against a tree. You know that it wasn't from Ramsey's hounds, meaning that wolves were in these woods. You grab a stick laying near you. It won't do much good against a wolf but the idea of it made you feel safer.
As you sit there and listen to the sounds of the woods, exhaustion slowly creeps it's way to you. Sleeping could very well mean your death, but slowly your eyes close of their own accord.
----
Your eyes just barely part when you hear a growl. They close quickly from a blinding light. But some warm and soft nudges you and you turn into the warmth. You hear a lot of howling suddenly, meaning more than one animal.
You don't care though. Moving that smallest amount has already taken all of your strength. You expect to feel their teeth digging into your flesh any moment and know that there is nothing you can do about it. The warmth that nudged you is gone, at least you think it is. You can't tell what is going on at all.
The next thing you are aware of is the sound of horses hooves. You try to make your body move but it won't do anything that you want it to. And then there is the warm nudging again, except this time it is in more than one place.
You hear a shout but can't actually make out the words. You want to call for help but just can't. Your body just won't listen to. It's maddening, but at the same time you don't care and want to go back to sleep.
A hand is on your cheek, moving your head. It's so warm and you let out a whimper. There is a sudden extra weight on you and your body seems to warm even more. You try to open your eyes once again, which proves to be a bit more succesful than before. You are able to make out a face, but it's not who you want to see.
"You will be okay now Y/n," Rasmey says, cupping your face once again before he kisses your forhead. You move your head slightly away from him to the best of your ability. "I shouldn't have done what I did, I will admit that. I know that won't make it up to you, I doubt anything will. But please, let me help you. I care for you, I didn't want to but I do."
He gently picks you up, and despite how mad you still are with him, your body moves closer to his warmth. He has never really talked about his feelings and sounded that genuine about it. You may not be able to forgive him now or for some time, but you hope that some how you can make it past this.
