You weren't even supposed to talk to him. It was against your duties to talk to the family, being that you were only a maid. Occasionally Lady Stark would talk to you, but it was only about cleaning a different room.

Really, he was the one who started it. You were told to clean his room, seeing as how the normal woman who did it had just had a child and was busy taking care of it. It was the middle of the day when you started the cleaning, deciding to begin with the dusting of the room. He burst into the room suddenly, startling you and making you bump into the table you were cleaning.

"My apologies, I didn't realize that someone was in here." He stares at you, first looking you over then just looking in your eyes.

"I will come back later my lord," you reply, making to leave the room.

"No," he practically exclaims, grabbing your arm gently to make you stop walking. "You can finish, I just need to grab something." You can feel the blush rising in you cheeks from the feeling of his hand on yours.

"As you wish my lord." He lets go of your arm and you slowly walk back over to the table to finish the cleaning.

Every day he would come back into his room at the same time to see you cleaning, asking a different question about you. And then it became full conversations. He would sit on his bed or in a chair and watch you clean, talking about whatever came to his mind. He was sweet, you had to admit, and so kind to you, it was really know surprise that you fell for him.

It didn't surprise you when he kissed you, you had expected something like this would one day happen by the look in his eyes. What did surprise you was the fact that the kiss was so passionate, and that you didn't want it to end. So here you were, seven months later and madly in love with someone that you shouldn't be. But today your heart was going to get broken.

"Y/n, what's wrong?" He has been watching your jerky movements for a little while now, and you knew that you were acting strangely, avoiding eye contact and barely really talking to him.

"The royal family will be here soon."

"Yes, it's all anyone can talk about right now." You sigh and sit on the bed next to him.

"I started thinking about our future. In one version, you tell your parents you love me and they are okay with it and we wed and have children and run Winterfell." You pause as tears begin to creep into your eyes. "Then there is the version that will most likely happen. You tell your parents and they get very mad and make me leave. We try to sneak out to see each other, but eventually you marry a high born lady and my heart will be broken and I will perish as a old, lonely woman."

"What are you talking about? I would never let that happen y/n, and you know that."

"Then what is going to happen," you exclaim, standing up and staring at him. "Everyone knows that the king is going to ask your father to be his new hand, which would mean you would be the lord of Winterfell."

"The chance of that being true is still very small," he replies, looking confused.

"Someday you will be the lord of Winterfell, Robb. And then you will need a wife who is fit to be by your side." He is silent for a minute, giving you time to figure out how you have to say it.

"What are you saying?" You can see the sadness in his eyes because he knows what is about to come, and it makes you feel even more guilty than you already are.

"I think we have to stop." It comes out much softer than you meant it to, and so shaky with you being on the verge of tears. "This isn't going to be what I need it to be in the future, and I don't want either of us to get hurt more than we already are."

"Get out," he says quietly but anger laced through them. You nod your head as a tear slips out and slowly glides down your cheek. You walk to the door, looking back at your love one last time, before slipping out the door for the last time.
