Lydia's mind buzzed. She felt so sad and confused at the same time. What was she going to do? She drove ahead, pulling into her driveway as the sun was starting to set. The engine turned off which left her in silence and she let everything sink in as she sat in her cold, dark car. What happened now? Of course she was used to Jackson being mad at her but she'd never seen him this mad before, he'd never threatened her like that and actually kicked her out.
Lydia felt sick as she recalled him shouting at her, somehow feeling like it was all her fault. Jackson definitely had a gift for making her feel guilty for anything that went wrong even if, like this time, it wasn't her fault. She felt a small tear escape her eye as she decided to phone Allison. She hadn't spoken to her all weekend, which was pretty unusual but in all honesty she knew deep down she was avoiding her. Lydia knew she was right and what Allison might say if she told her and honestly she didn't know what she'd do if she heard the deafening truth once more.
Lydia called her while she hopped out her car and opened the front door to her house. Lydia's phone rang impatiently as she called out to the vast emptiness even though she knew there was no one in, perhaps it was out of hope or just plain loneliness, but she locked the door and quickly sat down on the pearl white sofa as Allison finally picked up.
Before she could speak, Allison yelled at her down the phone. "YOU BITCH where have you been all weekend?! i've been texting you like crazy i was worried!" Allison whined at her as Lydia sighed before realising what she'd just said. "Wait what? What texts? I actually haven't received anything?" Lydia questioned he while searching through her recent messages and she was right, there was nothing. "What really? i texted you like 10x on Friday night and Saturday?" Allison stated.
"That's actually so frikken odd. My phone is probably playing up or something, don't worry about it but i am sorry i should've phoned you or something but...Ali i have kinda a lot to tell you...it's definitely been one interesting weekend at Jackson's" Lydia said becoming more and more quiet as she felt almost nervous about telling her. "Oooh girl tell me everything! What's happened? Jackson being his usual twat self? That arsehole brother of his being annoying again? Stanley is it?" Allison said quickly as she fired questions at her.
"It's Stiles and funnily enough no he was honestly being a sweetheart to me" Lydia said thinking back to when she was crying in his room and he seemed like he actually cared. Ha yeah right, Lydia thought. "Wait i'm sorry what? We are talking about the same dorky loser, half brother of Jackson's aren't we? The one that is always horrible to you? Is it even possible that he can be a sweetheart?" Allison laughed slightly at her remark, waiting for Lydia's response.
"Surprisingly yes and i will tell you exactly why in a minute but don't be too harsh he was actually really nice, strangely enough..." Lydia stated nonchalantly while twiddling her hair in small strands with her other hand as she laid back further into the couch. "Well well i guess i'll have to speak to this 'Stiles' won't i? but i guess he seems like an okay dude if he can make my best friend feel better." Allison replied which made Lydia chuckle slightly.
Lydia decided it was time and she told her everything, she had begun to cry when talking about what had happened with Jackson and how Stiles had helped her and everything she was feeling, Allison didn't say much about the subject except responding with a few words every now and again until Lydia had finished. This was to Lydia's surprise as she expected her to say more about Jackson especially but to be honest she preferred that she didn't.
She felt so so lost and she wished Allison was there, just to hug her and make her laugh like she always did and just keep her company for the night. As if to read her mind, Allison hastily spoke. "That's it i'm coming over give me 5 minutes and when i get there we are watching the Notebook, eating the ice cream that's in the freezer and cuddling up in blankets in our pjs all night so get ready!" and with that she ended the call. Allison only lived down the street from Lydia which she absolutely loved of course and Lydia smiled widely as she recalled first meeting the bubbly girl in sophomore year.
Lydia smiled properly for the second time that day she adored Allison and was so damn thankful she had such a perfect and understanding best friend. Just like she had said, Allison was over in no time and the girls spent the rest of the night, huddled in two fluffy pink and purple blankets, eating cookie dough ice cream and crying over the Notebook and a bunch of other chick flicks before crashing out on the sofa. Lydia knew Allison hadn't said much cause she understood, she already knew what she had told Lydia previously, and knew she didn't need to repeat it all again and make her feel shitty, plus Allison never was the type of girl to say 'i told you so' which made her even more of a great friend.
Lydia woke up first. Her hair fell in perfectly messy curls around her face and she was wearing her light pink pyjamas. She looked over to Allison to see her sleeping peacefully on the other end of the sofa, her gorgeous black hair fell lightly around her pale clear skin and her long eyelashes almost grazed the tops of her cheeks as she fluttered her eyes in her sleep. She was so jealous of her beautiful friend. Lydia checked the time on her phone as it read 7:05am and despite the early time, it was the longest Lydia had slept in to in awhile, even if it was a school day today. To her dismay, she noticed that also on her phone was several strongly worded texts from Jackson about her not texting him first and being a rubbish girlfriend and one message that came from her mom which was letting her know she was going to be out for a few more days. Which was of course all the usual texts she woke up to, even if Jackson's messages were about something different this time.
Lydia sighed heavily and headed upstairs to go get dressed for school. She quickly decided against waking Allison just yet, she looked too peaceful. Lydia put on her favourite tight purple dress and paired it with some high heels and she gently painted her face with light makeup: foundation, mascara and some light nude lipstick she applied to her lips. She combed softly through her long curl hair with her fingers, until it fell in long luscious curls around her and she grabbed her brown leather jacket and headed back downstairs to find Allison awake.
Allison smiled at her from the breakfast bar where she was sat munching on some cereal, her legs folder underneath each other perfectly. "I wish you woke me up dummy i look a mess and i've only got..." Allison spoke in muffles through chewing her cereal and glanced at her watch before he face lit up in shock. "Oh My Goddd i only have 10 minutes!! i'll be down in a second!!" Allison quickly flew off her stool and upstairs, taking her cereal with her and shouting behind her. "That dress is super cute by the wayyy!" Her rushed comment made Lydia genuinely smile at her goofy best friend and for the first time since last weekend she felt like today wouldn't be so bad.
