"Cassidy, wake up! You have to take Nicky to school." I groaned getting myself out of bed and getting ready. Why did I have to take her? She's 10... and her school is down the street. It doesn't matter. I rushed over to the stares and jumped onto the railing letting my body slide down it. I used my power to keep myself stable and jumped off just before I could hit the banister thing at the end. "Cassidy!"

"What?" I popped into the kitchen and poked Mom's shoulder causing her to jump and lightly punch my shoulder playfully.

"Don't do that!" I just laughed as I grabbed a piece of toast and ran for the door. I could hear mom yelling about my coat but... I don't need one. The cold never bothered me anyway.

"Cassie!" Nicky jumped into my arms and I smiled. "Take me with you!"

"Not gonna happen sport." She started to pout and I laughed. "I have a lot to do today and you should be in school."

"I hate school. I wanna skip with you." I shook my head and he jumped down crossing her arms.

"I'm not skipping. I have an authorized free day." She scrunched up her nose and frowned.

"A-t-er-eyes..." I rolled my eyes still laughing and she stopped her foot. "Don't laugh at me."

"I'm not and that is why you should be in school." I walked her all the way there and waved as she walked inside. As soon as those doors closed, my mind wandered. I left before she could come running out again and started for the city. It wasn't long. Mainly because I called an uber but still. I found myself standing in front of this large building with a smile on my face. Ok... I am gonna do it.

I walked inside and the first thing I noticed was the busy atmosphere. Everyone was rushing around carrying paper and things about like busy bees in an even busier hive. I took a deep breath and walked over to the receptionist. They were just typing away and I frowned. They all do look really busy... maybe I should...

"Yes?" She glanced up at me and I smiled.

"Hi yes. I'm here for an interview." She looked me over and pointed at these double doors in the back before returning to her work.

"T-Thanks..." I made my way through the doors and just stood in awe at all the papers being printed. This place was one of the few last good papers. I mean reporters and publishing. There were people for marketing and campaigns. It was huge. And I wanted to be a part of it...

"You must be... Cassidy Rhodes?" This kid... no older than me, walked up to me with a smile on his face. "I'm Virgil Anderson, I'll be taking you over to where you will be working."

"Working? I thought I was here for an interview. " Virgil smiled as he started to lead me through the business.

"Nope. Since you are only 14, The company can't physically hire you. However, since this is my families press, I pushed them to make a division I could be a part of. Unfortunately not many young kids want to work for the paper." He took me back into this room and I froze looking at everything excitedly. The room was filled with all these awesome hero headline and posters. Pictures lined the wall and, believe it or not, there was a mini daily planet globe in the center of the room. Funny considering Superman was the person that gave me the idea to work here. "I looked over everything you sent it and I'm actually amazed."

"About what?" He laughed as he walked over to this desk and pulled some papers out.

"Your essay. It was about supers. Or more specifically, the Hero Essence." He raised an eyebrow and I smiled awkwardly. Can't blame a kids celebrity crush. Even on such an amazing man like Essence. "You went deep with it. It was amazingly written for people our age at least."

"Thank you..." He nodded and walked me over to this desk and smiled.

"This is yours. There is only two cuz well we're the only ones working this division but I think it'll be fun." I nodded full of energy and Virgil laughed. "Ok, well... If you aren't to busy to start now..."

"Nope! Let's start!"

"Kiddo?" I blinked the haze out of my eyes and frowned. Patton was staring at me with this worried look and I let myself fall back.

"C-Cas-ssidy..." I cringed hearing Virgil's shaky voice and frowned. "C-Cas... I'm s-sor..rry... I... I..."

"Cassidy!" I jumped up and watched embarrassingly as a sheet of paper fell from my face and back onto my desk. Virgil just stood there laughing as I wiped the drool off my face. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you."

"No. Thanks for that. I shouldn't have fallen asleep." He just smiled and shook his head.

"I'm glad you're taking all this seriously but... we are still kids. If you need a break... or a nap, it fine." I punched his arm playfully and smiled. "Ok then. My father said we should write about a super this time. Our column has seemed to be pointing in that direction and since we both clearly enjoy them..."

"We should write about what we enjoy." His face lit up and I nodded. "Let's do it..." The building shook and suddenly the power cut out. I could see Virgil start to freak. I started to look for something... anything that might help us see through the dark but as soon as I turned back Virgil had vanished. "VIRGIL! VIRGIL! Where..."

The building shook again and I heard people start screaming as this explosion ripped through. I fell forward and knocked my head on my desk causing everything to go dark.

"CAZ! CASSIDY!"

"Cassidy!" I sat up hearing Logans voice come through and I frowned. He was speaking soft but stern. Why was I even still apart of this call? Why was I even participating in all this still? I should be leaving. I should be packing up and just leaving. It's not safe anymore. Not for me... and not for Logic... Logic. "Caz, something is going on with you. I... we want to help..."

"You can't help. No one can." No one can help me... No one...

"CAZ! WAKE UP!" I opened my eyes to fire and screams and I felt the panic start to rise. "Cas..."

"Virgil!" I struggled to my feet and looked around but nothing. He wasn't anywhere. I know I heard him though. "VIRGIL!"
