"C-Caz..." I looked around hearing his voice and I frowned. Where... "CASSIDY!" I watched a wall crumble and covered my eyes trying to block the ash. When I opened them again my eyes went wide. What... "C-Ca... hel...help m... me."
"Virgil?!" I rushed over and started uncovering him from the debris. I pulled him out and he hugged himself as he started coughing up blood. He opened his eyes and smiled at me. Even wearing the mask, I knew he could tell who I was. He opened his mouth to say something but I shook my head. "It's ok. You're going to be ok, Virge. But you have to stay quiet for me."
"I-I... am... s-so..." I took his hand and held it close.
"I'm going to get you out of here. I promise." The room started to shake again and I knew what that meant. I picked Virgil up as carefully as I could and I looked around. He wasn't heavy he was a lot smaller then I was, but he was injured badly. A piece of wood had lodged into his side. If I didn't get him out soon. There was going to be a problem.
"Just hold on, Virgil." He nodded as he buried himself further into me and I looked around for any way I could get him out of here. All I could see was ash. All I could hear was that mans sick and psychotic laughter. Virgil tensed up and started to cry. "You're ok. You're going to be ok. But I really need you to try and be quiet. Can you do that for me?"
He nodded again and I took a deep breath as I started to make my way through the destruction. I started for the door but the roof ended up caving in sending us back the way we came. The longer I searched the worse the fire and the further up it sent us. If I didn't get him out soon...
"Well, who is this?" I froze up hearing his voice rip through the roar of flames and Virgil started to shake. "A hero? No... a child."
"It's none of your business." I growled out as I turned to see the masked Villain standing there smiling.
"Oh, but it is. I just can't have a child like you suffering like this." His eyes went dark and I stumbled back. "Let me end it for you." He snapped sending this blast of pressure into us and I threw my arm out sending a thing of debris to block it. His eyes narrowed and I stomped my foot causing the floor to shake and break underneath him. As he fell through the floor I ran right for the window jumping right through while holding a now unconscious Virgil in my arms tightly.
Jumping out of a window was no small feat. I mean, at that moment we were 5 floors up. I was holding an injured Virgil and, oh yeah... I WAS 14 YEARS OLD! I was terrified. The moment I felt the wind rushing around me I threw my one arm up in the air and relished in the feeling of cold metal wrapping itself around me. I looked up to see a pipe latched around my wrist and smiled as it slowed our fall until we were able to safely land.
People came rushing over taking Virgil right out of my arms and I smiled seeing them start to help him get better. That smiled disappeared the moment the entire building collapsed. I turned around to see a very pissed off villain just hovering in the air and I narrowed my eyes in anger. They destroyed Virgil's family paper. They almost killed Virgil. They hurt so many people.
"Hey!" I yelled over to the people as I just stared at the mess of destruction in complete rage. I saw a cop came running over. "There were people still in there." His eyes darkened and I frowned. "I know but please of your people focus on the survivors and whoever miraculous may have survived."
"Look kid you should..."
"I'm not just some kid." He narrowed his eyes and I smiled. "And I have something I have to do."
I took off running before anyone could stop me. I was petrified but I was also pissed. I looked up at the man in the air and I blinked popping up right behind him. His eyes went wide as he spun around only to catch my foot in the side of his head. I started falling, you know since I can't fly and all that, and I turned myself around to see the man smiling.
He blinked out of sight and popped up directly in front of me, placing his hand on my chest and winking. I felt this explosion rip through me as I was sent hurtling into the ground. Next thing I knew he was right on top of me with this huge shit-eating grin. He grabbed the collar of my shirt tightly and snarled... At least that's what it looked like to me.
"You are going to cause me so many problems. I can already tell." He was laughing but I could see the rage in his eyes. "I should just..." His eyes went wide as I shakily placed my hand on his chest smiling through the blood that fell like tears.
"I think you should go to hell." I felt my blood boil as this intense heat and pressure tore through my arm until it burst out creating an explosion that sent the villain right into the debris from the fallen building.
"DECEIT!" I was shocked out of my memory just as a fireball came hurtling right at me. I narrowed my eyes and threw my arms up feeling that familiar burning pressure in them as an explosion ripped through the ball completely destroying it. Inferno came running at my worry all over his face and I just rolled my eyes. "Oh my god, are you ok? You just zoned out there."
"I'm fine, Firecracker. You, however..." I laughed as I threw my arm out sending him flying back. He slammed his fists in the ground as he slowly got up with a scowl.
"Not fair. I was worried."
"And that was your first mistake. Never hesitate." His eyes darkened as I swayed a bit letting the darkness start to boil up in me. Never hesitate. Never get attached. And most importantly... "Never show any weakness."
