It's All In Your Head

Boboiboy wanted to know why he was stuck with the worst luck. It was as if the goddess of misfortune had taken a particular interest in him. That was one crush that everyone would pay to avoid.

"Can you let me go now?"

Fire shook his head. "Not yet. We're not done."

"If I find myself with my head in a toilet, I'll personally throttle you—"

"Oh, quiet down," Lightning groaned. "Your body is also ours. We wouldn't have the masochism to commit such a crime."

Boboiboy groaned and buried himself in the sheets. Ever since his elements managed to kidnap him from his own conscious and project it into their world, they wouldn't let him rest. They wouldn't let him catch a break without them interrupting. They would pull him out of reality and let some other element control his body. Nobody in his team knew about this.

In contradiction to the feat, he even had his own room that reflected his personality. Like the other elements, he was basically pure energy here. He couldn't get injured. He couldn't feel hunger or thirst or exhaustion.

The only difference that he had with the elements was that he had no powers, and he was their prisoner. Every time an element overtakes his physical self, the other elements would keep a close eye on him and eventually let him regain his body. He was trapped in his own mind. They were the only ones that could let him return.

He didn't know why they would do this, but he was in no condition to argue. He couldn't die, but he could still feel pain. It was not something he would choose.

"Earth's almost done. He says ten more minutes." Lightning yanked the covers off Boboiboy. "Quit whining."

Boboiboy glared. "Yeah? You're a manifestation of me. You scared to see yourself crying?"

Fire grinned widely. "Do it! I'd pay to see Lightning cry!"

Lightning pounced. Fire dodged. The two on them were once engaged in a civil war.

Next to Boboiboy, Air stirred in his slumber. Boboiboy had no clue that his lazy self could be so... lazy. These were his emotions and personality magnified and accentuated. It was how they were the representatives of his strong emotions.

"How long have you all been self-conscious?" he asked.

Light glanced at him. He was reading an encyclopaedia on the bed while Leaf was hanging upside down on the ceiling with his vines. Wind was lying cross-legged on the floor, dozing off as comic books scattered around him like a hurricane had struck.

"Ever since you had your powers," Light explained. "Some of us came later than the rest. And since your memory-lass backlash had been corrected, we were more aware."

An annoyed hum escaped his throat. "You know you could have just told me to split. Pulling me out of my own body isn't the best method."

"That's right, but the rest of us will be affected by the leader," Leaf chirped, swinging next to Boboiboy's head. "I don't want to feel responsible or serious! They're no fun!"

Boboiboy grunted. "I never knew I was so picky."

"Now you know." Light returned to his book.

Boboiboy groaned loudly. He collapsed backwards onto the bed, causing the frame to rattle. Venting his anger, he picked up a pillow and tossed it across the room. The pillow collided with Fire's face, much to Lightning's amusement. The pillow started to singe, then it burst into flames.

Before he knew it, he was asleep.

When he woke up, he was back in reality, in his room at Tok Aba's house. It took a good five minutes for him to regain his bearings, which wasn't the slightest bit of delightful.
