The Salvatore School stands at the top of the hill, the sun setting behind it. Crickets chirp in the background as a black convertible drives through the gates. The roar of the engine echoes through the air as the smell of freshly cut grass reaches the driver.

The black-haired beauty behind the wheel smirks as she whizzes past loitering students and peaceful gardens. She gets a dirty look from a teacher, but she doesn't care. Her stomach bubbles in excitement as she nears the front door to the school. All around her, the air sings with new warmth.

"Yes, Mom," she says through the Bluetooth. "I'm sure this is what I want."

"Fine, I'll stop asking." Her mother sighs over the phone. "I just worry."

The girl lets out a long breath as she slows down. She can see that the lights on the porch are on as well as in most of the rooms. Her eyes focus on two rooms in particular: a teacher's and a student's. "I know. Everything will be ok."

She pauses as she pulls up to the entrance. The door is closed, but she can hear all the magic happening behind its walls. "I just got here. I'll call you when I settle in."

Her mother hangs up with a quick "Love you. Bye." The girl knows her mother wants to say more, but each knows that pushing will get nowhere.

The girl turns off the ignition and gets out of the car. On either side of her, creatures head to the school as the air cools around them. With a grin, the girl lets her magic seep through the crispness surrounding the mansion.

Some of the students smile in relief as the air warms their skin, but no one notices that it is the girl's doing. Instead, they stare at the new girl as she grabs a small duffle bag and enters the school.

When she walks in, a werewolf boy almost runs right into her. "Sorry!" he says. He pauses when he notices her quizzical expression. "Do you need something?"

The girl hesitates before she shakes her head. "No, I got it. I'm just looking for someone."

The boy glances down the hall where another boy, a seemingly human boy, waits for him. "Well, if you need anything," the wolf says as he begins to walk off. "I'm Rafael."

The girl nods and offers a smile. "I'll see you around, beta." She turns on her heel, missing the look of astonishment from the werewolf.

The girl strolls through the school. She sees children practicing unknotting spells. She sees the wolf pack in the corner of the mess hall. She sees the vampires studying for finals. All of the creatures work in perfect harmony.

She walks up the spiral staircase to find an empty room. The whiteboard on the door reads: Will be available at 8 pm.

"Great," the girl says, leaning her head against the door. She drops her bag at her feet and takes out a notebook. Scribbling on a page, she writes, "Guess who!" She places the note on the bag before she continues down the hall.

The rooms around her meld into one. The girl knocks on a few doors only to bump into strangers. She feels awkward about apologizing to them but moves on quickly. However, at the very end of the hall, the girl finally finds the right room.

She knows it's the right one. She can feel it.

She knocks on the door three times, her hand on the handle. She presses her other hand against the wood humming with magic. Her magic warms against her skin as the energy of the door hums with content.

"Not now, Dad." A voice calls from within. "I don't want to talk to you."

The girl turns the handle, cracking the door open. Inside, she can see a bed and a desk. She knows that the set up is mirrored on the opposite side of the room—after all, the twins have everything the same way.
