A hooded figure races through the empty streets of New Orleans. It closely follows a man in a baseball cap as he strolls along the sidewalk. He is relaxed, unaware of the person following him.
He glances into every shop until he finds the empty bar. He could smell the blood from miles away, but, as he pushes open the door, the scent slaps him in the face.
Bodies litter the floor of Rousseau's as the man steps inside. He sighs at the blood oozing over the paneling. He can hear someone feeding as he pours himself a drink. He refuses to look up at the creature on the stage.
The creature drops the body as her eyes glow yellow. She glances at the man as she sighs. "What are you doing here?" She snaps.
The man slides a glass of bourbon across the bar. The creature catches it and drinks. The man sits next to her and looks over her face. "What the hell are you doing, Hope?" He asks, his voice sad.
The trybrid narrows her eyes. "Grieving."
The man clenches his jaw. "You know what I mean."
"No, I don't, Teddy," she replies, flicking his baseball cap off. Teddy Hale just rolls his eyes. "I'm fine. You can stop worrying."
"I won't stop worrying until you get back to being yourself," Teddy snaps as Hope grabs the last compelled human in the room. "Let him go."
Hope flashes her yellow eyes. "No. I'm hungry. And if you're waiting for the old me, you won't find her. She died with her dad."
Teddy's shoulders slump forward as he downs the rest of his drink. "I'm sorry we couldn't save him."
For a moment, Hope pauses. A flicker of her old self surfaces.
Then, she is gone.
"I don't care anymore," she says.
A bell rings. Teddy gets to his feet as Hope gets into a defensive position. A hooded figure walks in, dark hair flowing from the mask. Both wolves sniff the air as the figure takes off their hood.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Teddy yells, grabbing Stella's arm and pulling her back.
She rips her arm from his grasp and uses her magic to push him into a stool. "Shut up, T," she says as she rolls her eyes. "Mom and Dad didn't want you here either."
Teddy narrows his eyes, making them flash yellow. "You should be back home with—"
Stella raises her hand and makes a fist. Suddenly, Teddy's voice disappears. She smirks as he frowns. "I want to talk to my cousin. Either you shut up or I knock you out."
Teddy crosses his arms with a pout but stays silent.
Stella turns to Hope with an angered expression. "It's been months, Hope. I haven't heard anything from you. Clearly, you're struggling." Stella motions to the dead bodies around her.
Only Teddy can tell she is affected by the death.
"I'm not struggling," Hope snaps. "I'm adjusting."
The Hale witch rolls her eyes. "Sure, you are."
"What do you want?"
"What I want is my cousin back," Stella says. "What I want is for this whole shit-show to be a bad dream. What I want is for you to start healing instead of running."
"Oh, like you did?" Hope asks as anger rises in her blood. Stella flinches back as Hope sneers. "When are you gonna start healing, Stella? Carter's gone. Deal with it."
Hope sinks her fangs into her victim.
Stella jumps forward, but Teddy grabs her and tugs her back. The witch cries out, swearing at Hope, as the wolf covers his sister's eyes.
The bell at the door sounds again. Teddy pulls Stella behind him as his claws poke out of his fingertips. As Hope feeds, three people walk into the bar: the first is a blonde in a plaid skirt; the second, a brunette in a matching outfit. The third is a man holding a crossbow—a weapon Teddy and Stella know all too well.
Within seconds, Teddy pounces on the man, grabbing the crossbow and turning it back on the strangers. The man and brunette flinch back. The blonde only looks around the room with a disgusted look on her face. "Gross," she mutters as the man pulls her back.
"Who the hell are you?" Hope's voice echoes across the room as a thud sounds. Stella refuses to see the body added to the pile.
"Uh-uh," the blonde exclaims. "Time out, Genie."
"My name is Hope," Hope snaps. "And you need to leave unless you want my cousins to skewer you."
The man's eyes spark in realization. "Hope Mikaelson?" he breathes. His eyes find Teddy's and Stella's. "Teddy and..."
Teddy only readies the crossbow.
The man puts his hands up in surrender. He looks back at Hope, his body tense. "Look, I knew your parents. I know where all this darkness you're feeling comes from. If you just talk to me, I really think I can help."
After a moment of silence, Hope scoffs. "Screw this," she says.
Before she can move, Stella chants a spell. Hope falls to the ground unconscious. Alarmed, Teddy rushes to her side as Stella faces the strangers. "You can help her?" She asks.
"Stella—"
"Shut up, T," Stella snaps before she looks back at the strangers, specifically the brunette. "Can you help her?"
The girl exchanges a look with the man. She puts on a smile. "We can help her," she says.
"What's your name?"
"Josie."
Stella takes a napkin and makes a pen materialize out of thin air. She writes something down before she hands it to Josie. "You send me constant updates."
Josie slowly takes the napkin containing Stella's number. "I promise."
Stella looks back at Alaric, allowing the fire in her veins to breach the surface. She feels her face turn hot as flames flicker in her eyes. "Don't break your promise," she says. "You break it, and I will break you."
So, for those who don't know what's going on, this is Lizzie's first wish. This who episode will have weird formatting because I want it to.
Also, surprise update! I graduate high school today! I'm moving on in the world!
Hope you enjoyed!
