Ace and Skates

Chapter one: Ace and Skates

It was late in the afternoon, five thirty to be exact, it was cloudy and beginning to get dark, it made sense because it was winter and a red hedgehog was walking through a forest. The trees were covered in snow and were glistening from the flame. The red hedgehog was producing a small flame in the palm of his hand, he was wearing a long sleeve red and green shirt which suited the season, a pair of black jeans, a pair of blue running shoes with red flames on it, a pair of white gloves with a red flame on it and deep blue eyes. He was about 16, his name was Ace the hedgehog, he had spent his life battling Dark Flame along with his friend Skates. Ace had just left the forest and began heading home. After he had been walking for a few minutes he noticed something covered in snow, as he walked over to it he noticed it was a person. He rushed to the person's side and brushed off the snow, then he noticed that it was a girl. It was a pink hedgehog that looked like she was the same age as Ace, possibly a little younger. She was wearing a red and white jacket with a dress of the same colour under, a pair of red boots with a white stripe in the middle and white gloves. Her whole body was covered with burns and her skin had been turning slightly blue from the cold. Ace knew he couldn't leave her there so he lay a hand on her forehead and closed his eyes and focused on his power of flames. The burns left the girl's body, and her skin was no longer slightly blue. Ace had no idea who she was or where she lived so he picked her up the girl and began to take her to his house.

Once Ace had arrived he lay the girl on his couch and brought her a blanket. He then sat on a chair beside her and looked down at the girl, as he did one thought kept repeating itself in his mind. "Dark Flame must've done this but why and why her?" He sat there thinking of a reason for a few minutes a until he reached a conclusion. He reached into his pocket a pulled out a large red gem, he put it close to the girl and it started to glow. Then he put it back into his pocket and said "Of course she has a Chaos Emerald." A few minutes later the girl began to open her eyes, Ace moved down beside her so that they were at eye level. He saw that her eyes were emerald green, he thought they were the kindest eyes he had ever seen. "Hello, who are you? Where am I? What happened?" she paused for a moment then the memory came rushing back to her. "I remember, I was attacked!" She exclaimed. She looked down at her arms and expected to see horrible burns but there was nothing there, there was not sign of any burns. "Uhhh... How long was I unconious." The girl asked. "You weren't out for too long once I found you." Ace said then continued. "The reason your burns are one is because of this." Ace said as he produced a small flame in the palm of his hand. The girl's eyes widened. "I used my power of flames to heal your burns." Ace said. "Wow." The girl said as she stared at the flame. "Do you remember who attacked you." Ace asked the girl. She shivered a bit then said. "It was a dark purple hedgehog with dark blue stripes and he was covered in black flames." Ace's face changed to worry, he could not believe she survived, he knew the only reason was because Dark Flame couldn't survive the cold. The girl noticed his expression change and asked, "Are you alright?" Ace quickly put on a smile and said "I'm fine." His tone cheery, he didn't want her to worry. She placed a hand on his shoulder and said. "Your not telling me something." She could tell that something was bothering him, he looked away from her worried green eyes. "The person who attacked you was after a Chaos Emerald and the only reason he didn't kill you was because he can't survive the cold." Ace said.

"So you took me into your home healed my burns and are worried about what will happen to me next.... And you don't know my name." The girl said to Ace, he had never met someone who could figure out what he was thinking, he was stuck, he couldn't figure out what to tell her that would comfort her, instead he changed the subject. "What is your name?" Ace asked the girl. "I'm Amy Rose, what is your name?" Amy asked. "I'm Ace the Hedgehog, nice to meet you." Ace said, then continued. "I'm not sure it would safe for you to keep the Chaos Emerald, is there somewhere you can keep it safe?" Ace asked. "I know the perfect place." Amy said, she got up from Ace's couch, but then collapsed to the ground. "Are you ok?" Ace asked as he kneeled down beside Amy. "I think there is something wrong with my leg." Amy said as she looked down at her leg. Ace then picked Amy up like a bride and said. "Don't worry I know a friend who can help." Ace said as he smiled he walked outside then ran at super speed. Amy looked at Ace in awe, she new very few people who could run that fast, then a thought occurred in her head, "He is so much like Sonic." that thought lingered in her mind for a while, then she looked up at Ace and smiled. Ace noticed and smiled back then turned his gaze to the path ahead. He came to a sudden stop and looked around, then a blast of fire came hurdling towards Ace and Amy, Ace saw it coming and absorbed it into his body. Both Amy and Ace looked in the direction of the blast. Standing there was the person Amy had describe; Dark Flame, he smiled at both of them a twisted evil smile and said, "Its been a while hasn't it Ace, where is your friend Skates?" Amy looked up at Ace and saw all the hatred in his eyes towards that one person, he looked back down at Amy the hatred vanishing instantly and asked, "Can you stand?" Amy nodded and Ace put her down, his gaze went back to Dark Flame, he began producing flame, but this it wasn't a small flame, it was large spheres of fire. He began throwing them at Dark Flame, all were being stopped by a wall of Blake flames, Ace continued for less than a minute until the fire stopped. It wasn't because he didn't try, his fire wasn't coming out, Amy looked at Ace confused, then Dark Flame threw his flame wall, but instead of throwing at Ace he threw it at Amy.

Ace quickly jumped in front of the wall he did have time to protect himself instead the wall hit him. He fell to the ground in front of Amy, she went down beside him as he began to get up, his fur singed and his skin had terrible burns. Ace pulled out a Chaos Emerald and grabbed Amy's hand, then he said, "Chaos control." Both were transported to the front door of a house, Ace reached out and knock on the door then collapsed to the ground. The door opened a few moments later, there stood a royal blue hedgehog with orange eyes, he was wearing a red and blue striped shirt, grey track pants, a pair blue running shoes with green at the back and a pair of gloves with a blue flame on it. The hedgehog looked down at Ace and Amy, he and asked Ace,"Dark Flame?" Ace looked up and nodded. Ace started to push himself up so that he was standing, then he reached to help Amy up, Amy was shocked that after he had been blasted with a wall of fire he was trying to make sure that she was alright. The hedgehog helped both of them of them in he lay both on a separate couch, then walked over to Ace and placed a hand on his forehead, he closed his eyes and after a little bit the burns started to disappear, then he walked over to Amy and asked, "Are you alright?" Amy looked at Ace for a while and asked Ace "Why?", Ace got up and kneeled beside Amy, "Why what?" Ace asked. "Why are you doing all this for me?, you haven't even known me for a day." Amy said. Ace stayed there for a moment and thought to himself, after a while he smiled and shrugged. He looked over to the blue hedgehog. "Thanks Skates." he said as he got up and walked towards the door. "She injured her leg, can you help her?" Ace asked. Skates nodded and walked to an other room to get things he would need to fix the leg, Ace then turned to Amy and smiled. "I'll be back tomorrow." he said as he walked out of the house.

Skates came back in the room pushing a small T.V screen on a rolling table he adjusted it so that it was on level with Amy's leg, he pushed a button on the monitor and it turned on, Skates continued to push different buttons until the screen showed a skeleton, it was an x-ray Skates look at Amy's leg through the x-ray. "That's good, its very minor all you have to do is wear a walking cast for a few days." Skates said, but Amy was already asleep, he left the room again and came back with a blanket that he put ontop of Amy. He sat down for a moment and began thinking about the situation, he didn't know how there were going to stop Dark Flame, last time they had other allies, but they didn't survive his last onslaught, a few minutes after Amy fell asleep smoke began to pass through the crack between the door and the door fram into Skates' house. He knew exactly who it was, he jumped up from his chair and into a fighting position. The smoke continued to come in and form a figure, once it stopped the figure became clear, it was Dark Flame. Skate jumped at him and kick at Dark Flame, his foot was lit with blue flames as he kicked at Dark Flame, the kick hit Dark Flame, he fell to the ground in pain then looked up at the blue hedgehog and created a field of fire around Skates, it was small not, enough room for him to move, he could only watch as Dark Flame walked over to Amy.

It was eight forty five in the morning, and Ace was heading to Skates' house, he had a promise to keep, he arrived within a minute and began walking to the door, then he noticed that the door was open, he rushed inside only to find Amy and Skates on the ground, they were covered in burns, Ace quickly rushed over to both and healed there burns. Skates woke up soon after, but Amy remained unconious, she was covered in bruises. "What happened?" Ace asked Skates. "It was Dark Flame, he took the Chaos Emeralds, mine and her's." Skates said. "Come on Amy, wake up." Ace said. "She was hurt badly, we have to hurry to a hospital." Ace picked Amy and pulled out his Chaos Emerald and shouted, "Chaos control!" Ace and Amy were transported to a hospital many doctors were looking at him in shock, "Please my friend is hurt, can you help." Ace said, then many doctor came in with a bed they took Amy from Ace and lay her on the bed, they took her to a room at the end of a hall on the second floor. Ace stayed in the hallway for a few hours until the doctors came out one said to Ace, she is awake if you want to see her. Ace went inside and found Amy looking out the window, she turned to Ace and smiled at him, Ace saw that one of arms and both of her legs were in casts. "I'm starting to think your bad luck." Amy said jokingly, Ace shrugged and sat beside her, "Are you feeling better?" Ace asked. "A little, thank you for bringing me, but I need some help." Amy said.
