The Christmas Celebration

Chapter three: The Christmas Celebration

It was finally done, everyone had completed there task for the Christmas party and bagan celebrating; everyone was having dinner except for Knuckles and Shadow, they were having a drinking contest. Almost everyone had taken a side and we waiting for one of them to give up or faint, though neither of them were showing any signs of giving. "How much can they drink?" Ace asked, "They will probably last a few more hours." Amy said, Ace had finally gotten used to the size of the house, however Skates was still shocked at the size, "How do you guys afford this." Skates asked, "It was a gift for all the times we saved the world, and we added a few rooms." Sonic said. A few hours later everyone had finished, but Knuckles and Shadow were still drinking, "How can you guys keep drinking?" Ace asked, everyone had gathered around the two of them waiting for someone to faint, "Five bucks says that Knuckles wins." Sonic said to Ace, "Your on." Ace said, they both watched attentively to see who would win, after another half an hour the answer became clear. There, face down on the table was a unconious red and black hedgehog, Shade was cheering for Knuckles and Silver was using his psychic powers to lift Shadow to the couch. Everyone, except Knuckles who fell asleep in his chair, and Ace who was looking around in the backyard, headed to the basement, there was a large T.V screen with many couches, "You guys have a movie screen in your basement?" Skates asked, "Yeah, its really good for watching movies." Sonic said, everyone went to sit down except Amy who was looking for Ace. She went back up stairs and began looking around, she looked out the window and found him outside producing a small flame in his hand, she grabbed her jacket and went out the back door. "What are you doing?" Amy asked, Ace looked over at her and said, "Star gazing." She walked over beside him and looked up at the sky, "Hey, want to see something cool?" Ace asked, "What?" Amy asked, Ace raised one hand up, "Look at the stars." Ace said. Amy looked up waiting for something to happen, then a star began shining brighter then the rest, "Are you doing that?" Amy asked, Ace smiled at her and nodded, after a little while he put his hand down and the star returned to normal, Ace looked back at Amy only to find her staring back at him. Neither of them said anything, they just stared at each other getting lost in their eyes, they continued to stare until Ace broke the silence, "Before I forget, I got you something to celebrate getting out of the hospital and Christmas." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small rectangular box, he handed to her, trying not to get lost in her emerald green eyes. She opened the box to find a necklace; it was a silver chain with a small emerald green gem, she stared at it and then back to Ace, "You got this for me?" Amy asked Ace, "Of course I did, you've been through a lot, I thought you deserved it." Ace said, he stared back at Amy and got lost in her eyes once again, he saw so much kindness and happiness. Amy then hugged Ace he had made her so happy, he had done so many things for her, Ace didn't hesitate, he hugged her back. They stayed like that for a while until Amy broke the silence, "Come inside, we're all watching a movie." They broke out of the hug and walked back inside.

Ace followed Amy to where everyone was watching, he was shocked by the size of the screen, "You guys have a movie theater sized T.V.?" Ace asked Amy, "Yeah its really good for watching movies." Amy said, they sat on an empty couch at the back, Amy leamed on Ace's shoulder, she felt safe beside him, she could feel the heat of the flames inside of him. Ace looked down at her and smiled, he put his arm around her and pulled her close, they looked at each other and smiled, they couldn't help but stare at each other, they had gotten lost in each other's eyes. They had forgotten about the world around them, they only cared about each other, they stayed like that for a while, then turned there attention back to the screen. Once the movie had ended everyone except Ace had fallen asleep, Ace looked over at Amy only to find her asleep in his arms, he didn't want to wake her so he closed his eyes and let sleep take him.

It was early in the morning Ace had just opened his eyes to find himself in the movie room in Amy and her friend's house, he looked down and smiled, he saw Amy still asleep, Ace still had his arm around her and was doing his best to move it so he wouldn't wake her. After an hour he finally saw Amy's eyes open, she looked around a bit and then her gaze turned to Ace, she smiled as soon as she saw him, "Good morning Ace." Amy said to him. Ace took his arm back and got up, Amy grabbed his arm and asked, "Do you have to go now?" Ace turned to her and said, "I could stay a bit longer if you want." Ace smiled at her and she smiled back at him. Amy got up as well and looked at the clock, "We should probably wake up the others." Amy said. They both went from person to person until everyone was awake, they all headed up the stairs and stared at the couch Shadow was sleeping, "I'm not waking him up this time." Silver said, they all looked at each other until Ace began walking towards Shadow, he looked down at him and said, "Get up." Shadow then punched hi. In the stomach, he kneeled down in pain for a moment. Once he got back up and produced a flame from his finger and put it next to Shadow's foot, Shadow instantly got up and looked at Ace annoyed, "You didn't get up." Ace said and walked back to everyone else. They all began laughing at Shadow, Shadow looked at Ace and shouted, "Chaos spear!" Shadow produced a spear made of energy and threw it at Ace, Ace turned around and caught it, "Is that the best you can do?" Ace asked Shadow, now Shadow looked even more annoyed, "If you want to fight me can we do it next time, when you are not hungover?" Ace asked Shadow, Shadow nodded and lay back on the couch. Everyone sat down at the table except for Ace, Amy, Silver and Tails who were making everyone breakfast.

At around noon Ace had said good-bye to everyone and began walking out the door, Amy followed him to the door, Ace could tell that she was anxious to say something, "What's on your mind?" Ace asked her, she opened her mouth then closed it again, she couldn't find the right words, Ace put a hand on her shoulder, "Are you alright." he asked, she looked down slightly so that she wasn't looking directly at him, "I was wondering if you wanted to do something later." Amy said, her cheeks had turned a bright red, "Sure, sounds like fun." Ace said, Amy looked up at him and smiled, "I'll see you later today." he said and he walked out the door, Amy closed the door behind him and walked back into the main room where all the girls were sitting. "Are you ok?" Blaze asked, she saw that Amy's cheeks were red, "Something to do with Ace I take it." Rouge said, Amy's cheeks turned an even brighter, Rouge smirked at her, she knew she was right. "Where is everyone else?" Amy asked trying to change the subject. "Tails is working on his planes as usual, Knuckles is napping and Sonic, Shadow, and Silver are having a three way fight, as usual." Shade said, Amy sat down with the rest of the girls and watched T.V.

It was four thirty in the afternoon and Amy was waiting in the main room for Ace, she was beginning to wonder whether he was coming at all, then she heard a knock at the door, she rushed to the door and flung it open, Ace was standing there with two pairs of skates in his hands, "Sorry I'm late, I was trying to find the second pair of skates." Ace said, then continued, "Are you ready to go?" Amy nodded and walked outside, she expected Ace to use Chaos Control, but he just walked, he turned around when he noticed that Amy wasn't following him, he walked back to where she was and asked, "Are you alright?" Amy nodded and then asked, "Why aren't you using Chaos Control?" Ace waited for a moment and then responded, "If I brought my Chaos Emerald then Dark Flame might attack, and that's the last thing I want to happen." Amy smiled at him and they began walking. Amy had no little idea of where they were going, so she was following Ace. Eventually they arrived at a forest, "Are we going in there?" Amy asked, "Yeah." Ace said as he held out his hand for Amy. She grabbed his hand and they began walking through the forest, Amy stayed close to Ace, she couldn't help but feel that she was being watched, Ace was also getting the same feeling. After a few minutes of walking they arrived at a frozen lake, it was shinning from the sunlight, "Here we are." Ace said gesturing to the lake, Amy looked at the lake and then to Ace and said, "Thank you." They both sat down and began putting on their skates. After a little bit they began skating, Ace could tell Amy was having some trouble, "Is this your first time skating?" Ace asked her, she grabbed Ace's arm to stop herself from slipping. Ace looked at her and said, "Don't worry, I gotcha." Amy looked at him and smiled, "Look how is out of the hospital." Came a voice from behind them, they turned around and saw a dark purple hedgehog with dark blue strips; Dark Flame, he shot a blast of fire between Ace and Amy blasting them in opposite directions. "Amy, run!" Ace shouted, but she didn't respond, she didn't move at all, Ace growled at Dark Flame, Dark Flame acted like he didn't notice, then he shot flame at the ice Amy was laying, it broke and she fell through. Ace rushed to the hole in the ice, then Dark Flame created a wall of flame under the ice, Ace shot flame at the wall but it did not do anything. He tried going through but it pushed him back, he then had no choice, he he reached his hand towards the flame and it was absorbed, "You fool." Dark Flame said and ran away. Ace dived into the cold water, he saw the blurry image of Amy sinking in the water, he swam as fast as he could and finally grabbed her hand. He swam back up to the surface keeping Amy close beside him until he reached the hole in the ice, he pushed Amy out first and then pulled himself up. He took off his jacket and put it on Amy, he then took her off the ice, he then shot flames at a patch of snow and laid Amy on that patch. Ace kneeled down beside and said, "Please wake up." Ace said, tears began to form in his eyes. Amy's eyes began to open, "Ace, what happened?" Amy asked, Ace smiled at her and said, "Don't worry your safe now." Ace said, he got back up but fell to the ground again, "Ace, are you ok?" Amy asked, Ace look at her the smile had disappeared from his face, "I'm sorry but this is it." Ace said, Amy looked at him she looked worried and confused, "To save you from drowning I had to absorb Dark Flame's black fire, last time I absorbed a small amount it nearly killed me, I absorbed too much this time, I'm so sorry Amy." Ace said then he began limping away, Amy quickly got up and went after him, "Amy stay away, I don't want you to get hurt." Ace said, "No I'm not leaving you." Amy said, her eyes were filled with tears, "No, I can't let that happen." Ace said as he began moving further away, then he began glowing the colour of Dark Flame's attack. "No!" Amy shouted then there was an explosion from where Ace was standing. "Ace!"
