Chapter eight: And The Winner Is.......
"Ok everybody its time for round two to begin, all contestants please return to the arena." The announcer stated, "Good luck Ace." Amy said to Ace while hugging him. He hugged her back and said, "Don't worry, I'll stop Dark Flame." Everyone then returned to their seats. "The first match of round two is between Sonic and Dark Flame." The announcer said, both walked onto the arena, "I've been waiting for this." Dark Flame said. The announcer counted down and the bell rang signaling the start of the fight, Dark Flame quickly punched Sonic across the face, he staggered backwards. "Something's wrong." Ace said, "What do you mean?" Silver asked, "Dark Flame is not strong enough to do that with one punch, he is using the power of the Chaos Emeralds." Ace said. "This is not good." Skates said, Sonic then fell to the ground, his body was covered in burns, "It looks like Sonic is unconious, the winner is Dark Flame." Just as the announcer spoke a group of doctor came out and took him to the infirmary.
"He should be alright, and it seems the burns have disappeared again." One of the doctors said, then exited the room. "That guy is tough." Sonic said, "He was using his Chaos Emeralds." Ace said, "Then it'll be even tougher to beat him." Amy said. "Don't worry Shadow or me will stop him." Ace said, "What Blaze beats him?" Tails asked, "That match is already over, Shadow won." Knuckles said, then Blaze came in. "Hey, you feeling better?" Blaze asked Sonic, he nodded, "Looks like I'm next." Ace said. Then he left the room, "Does he really think we can beat Dark Flame, he took down Sonic like it was nothing." Knuckles said, Shade elbowed him and gestured descritly to Amy who was looking out the window. "Don't worry Amy, Ace won't be beaten so easily, he put up a good fight against Shadow." Cream reassured her, she turned away from the window and smiled then turned back. "I nearly lost him once, I don't want to lose him for real." Amy said as tears began welling up in her eyes. "He's too tough to lose easily, trust me I know." Skates said, "I know he is, but this time he doesn't have anyone to help him."
"Time for the semifinals, our first match is between Dark Flame and Shadow, one of these two will go on to the finals." Shadow and Dark Flame walked onto the stage, the annonucer counted down and the match began. Shadow reached for his restraining rings, "No you don't." Dark Flame said and shot a blast of black flame at Shadow, he was blasted back and the rings stayed on his wrist. Dark Flame continued shooting blasts of fire keeping Shadow from putting on his restraining rings, "This is too easy." Dark Fllame said, then he kicked Shadow off of the arena. "We have a winner, Dark Flame is moving on to the final round." The announcer stated. "Looks like you have to stop Dark Flame." Skates said to Ace, "How many Chaos Emeralds do we have here?" Ace asked, "I have mine." Skates said, "I may need it to stop Dark Flame." Ace said, "Alright everybody, time for the last match of the semifinals, Ace and Bolt." The announcer stated, Ace looked up at Amy, he saw her staring at the ground with worry in her eyes. "Amy are you ok?" Cream asked, "Ace has to fight Dark Flame, last time he nearly killed him." Amy said, "He can't kill him, he will be disqualified." Tails said, "That might not stop him, he could just take the Chaos Emerald after. Shadow and Sonic have taken a beating." Amy said, "Ace has won, he is going to the finals, the last round will begin in ten minutes." The announcer said, Amy got up from her seat and headed to the arena. She saw Dark Flame leaning against a wall, "Going to say one last good-bye to Ace before I kill him." He said, "He won't be beaten that easily." Amy said her fists clenched, "Not if I use my Chaos Emeralds. I will make sure that I kill him and make him suffer." He said, she slapped him across the face, and he grabbed her by her neck. "Before I kill him, I might as well cause him a bit more pain." He said, "Touch her and I promise I will kill you right now." Someone said from behind them, he turned around and saw Ace standing there with a ball of fire in his hand. "Fine, I'll kill her after I kill you." Dark Flame said, then he put Amy down and walked away, "Are you ok?" Ace asked, she hugged him, "Please don't do this, I can't see you get hurt." Amy said. "I'm sorry, I have to, if I don't he will be tha much closer to regaining his power." Ace said, he saw tears welling up in her eyes, "Don't worry I'll be alright." Ace said, "How can you be sure, you keep saying that, but what if you don't come back?" Amy asked, he didn't say anything. "Say something." Amy demanded, "I'm sorry, only you have the answer for that." Ace said. "The final round is about to begin, please return to your seats." The announcer said, Ace grabbed Amy's hand and they began walking to the arena, "Only contestants are permitted to sit by the arena." Amy said. "They won't notice." Ace said back smiling.
"Time for the last fight, the winner will earn the prize; the Chaos Emerald." The announcer said, Ace and Dark Flame were standing in the opposite corners staring at each other, then the ball rang. Both began shouting blasts of fire at each other, "You can't beat me, I have two Chaos Emeralds." Dark Flame said, then something hit him in the back of the head. He fell forwards and landed face first on the arena, he turned around and saw Ace holding a large ball of fire. He threw it at Dark Flame and it exploded blasting him backwards, smoke filled the air making it impossible to see the arena. "Do you think he won?" Amy asked, no one responded, then the smoke cleared and they saw Ace kneeling on the ground and Dark Flame holding his head. Dark Flame smashed Ace's head into the arena floor, "Stop!" Amy shouted, tears were streaming down her cheeks, "Why isn't he shooting fire?" Silver asked, "Ace has a limited amount of fire, he can only shoot as much fire as he has absorbed." Skates said.
"Ace run!" Amy shouted, he was kneeling on the arena floor, blood was dripping from cuts on his arms, "You never stood a chance, and now you will pay for it with your life." Dark Flame said, he then picked Ace up by his neck. He smashed Ace back on the ground and kicked him in the stomach, he turned over and looked at Amy, "I'm sorry." He said, more tears began welling up in her eyes. Ace pushed himself back up, "I won't let you win." Ace said, he began walking but collapsed, Dark Flame grabbed him and threw him at the floor, Ace pushed himself and ran off the arena, he collapsed to the ground, "Dark Flame wins, he earns the prize, the Chaos Emerald." The announcer said, Amy rushed to Ace's side. "Amy... I'm sorry, I should have.... listened to you." Ace said and he closed his eyes, "Don't go Ace, I need you." Amy said, "Put him down." Dark Flame said. Skates quickly ran in front of him, "You won, go get your prize." Skates said, Silver, Sonic, Shadow and Blaze were standing behind Ace and Amy. "Fine, Ace won't survive anyway." Dark Flame said and walked away.
