The Search Continues

Chapter twelve: The Search Continues

"You lost the emerald?" Shadow asked angrily, "Hey, I didn't have a choice, next time you volunteer to get the emerald." Ace said. "I'm finished." Amy said taking a bandage roll away from Ace's arm, now all the cuts on his body were covered with bandages. "Thanks." Ace said, "Amy sat down beside him and grabbed the hand closest to him, "Now I see why you threw the emerald away." Shadow said. "Your point, it's not like you would have done any better" Ace said, "You really want me to try and kill you again don't you?" Shadow asked, "Remind me, last time you fought Dark Flame, how long did you last?" Ace asked smirking. "I don't have time for this." Shadow said, "Which is another way of saying I win." Ace said, everyone began laughing, they continued for a minute before Tails said, "I got another signal on two more emeralds, and its coming from the direction of where Eggman's mechs attacked last time." Amy looked over at Ace and asked, "Your not going are you?" Ace closed his eyes for a moment then said, "Not sure, if you really don't want me too I won't." She smiled at him. "Go, but I'm coming with you." Amy said, "Ok then, let's go, who is going?" Ace asked, "I never get tired of beating Eggman, count me in." Sonic said. "I'm going, I won't let you morons lose another emerald." Shadow said, "Skates, we found two more emeralds, from the direction Eggman attacked last time." Ace said into his communicator, "On my way." Skates said.

"Are we getting close?" Ace asked, "What, getting tired?" Shadow asked, Ace shot a small blast of fire at Shadow. "Oops, I tripped." Ace said smirking, "Save it for Eggman guys." Silver said, "Guys, look at this." Amy said. She was looking at a piece of metal on, "What is it?" Ace asked walking over to where she was standing, he picked up the piece of metal, "It's hot, Skates must have been here." Ace said, "Then let's get going." Sonic said and ran off at super speed. "Let's go." Ace said, he picked up Amy and ran after Sonic, Shadow and Silver followed. They continued running for a few minutes until they call to large metal dome, it was identical to Eggman's face, "I take it Eggman is narcissist." Ace said. There was a large door that had a huge hole, "Skates one, Eggman zero." Sonic said, "This shouldn't be too hard." Silver said. They walked in and looked around, it was pitch black, a small flame appeared in Ace's hand. "Stay close to the light." Ace said, they walked around the room trying to find a door, then they heard loud noises coming from every direction, "Get ready, something is coming." Shadow said. Both of Ace's hands were now covered in flames, Amy pulled a small cylinder from her pocket and pushed a button on it, it extended and changed into a large red and yellow hammer. "Ready?" Ace asked, "Ready." Amy said, then they all ran in different directions attacking anything that moved. The sound of gunfire filled could be heard from everywhere, then there was a loud scream, "Amy is that you?!" Ace asked loudly, no one responded, Ace began running in the direction of the scream, he saw Amy lying on the floor holding her right arm. One of Eggman's mechs had its gun aimed at her head, Ace created a large ball of fire and shot it at the mech. He then rushed to Amy's side, blood was dripping from her arm, he picked her up, "Guys, Amy is hurt, I have to take her back!" Ace shouted, "Go, we got this!" Sonic shouted back. Ace ran in the direction of the light coming from the door, now he could see that there was a large hole that went through her arm. "Don't worry Amy, I'll get you to the hospital." Ace said.

"Shadow, use Chaos Blast!" Sonic shouted, Shadow began glowing red, then a wave of energy came at all of the mechs. "Well done Shadow." Someone said from the other side of the room, "Eggman, where are you?!" Sonic asked loudly. The room filled with light, they could see a large robot that looked like a dragon, "This time you will lose your lives." Eggman said, "That's what you said the last five hundred times." Sonic said, the dragon flew into the air and began breathing fire all over the dome. "Any bright ides?" Sonic asked, Shadow jumped up and grabbed on to the wing but was instantly thrown off. "Great idea." Silver said sarcastically, then an explosion covered the robot dragon and Skates jumped to the ground holding two Chaos Emeralds. "You might want to run, this place is set to self destruct." Skates said, they all ran out of the dome and back in the direction of town.

"You feeling better?" Ace asked as Amy lay in a hospital bed, "I'm fine, I got a few stitches, but I'll be alright." Amy said. He smiled at her and asked, "When are they letting you outta here?" She looked up for a moment then back at Ace. "They said I can go now, I just need to change." She said, "Ok, I'll be outside." Ace said and walked into the hallway. He leaned against the wall for a few minutes and then the door opened and Amy walked out. "Ready?" Ace asked, "Ready." She said smiling, they both walked out the door and then Amy shrieked. As soon as they got out Ace picked her up and began running in the direction of the house, they got there in less then a minute. "I'll never get used to that." Amy said, "Probably not." Ace said smiling, "Do you think the others are back yet?" Amy asked. "If not I should go back." Ace said. Amy opened the door and heard cheering, "What happened?" Ace asked, "We got two Chaos Emeralds." Knuckles said. "No thanks to you." Shadow said, "Hey, I'm the one who got the emeralds, you guys just destroyed the group of mechs." Skates said. "And isn't that easy work for you guys?" Skates asked.
