The True Dark Flame

Chapter four: The True Dark Flame

"Ace!" Amy shouted as he was consumed with flame, she was blasted back, she fell face first into snow, she looked up to see find any signs of Ace, but all she saw was smoke. Tears began welling up in her eyes and she punched the ground in anger. After a few minutes the smoke had disappeared, she looked up, her eyes had become red and puffy, she saw a red hedgehog lying in the snow face down across the lake. She ran around the lake until she had gotten to where Ace was lying, she turned him over hoping to see his eyes open but nothing happened. She wrapped her arms around Ace and continued to cry, she then felt an arm wrap around her, she looked up to find Ace hugging her and smiling. "Ace, your ok?" Amy asked, "Yeah, I guess I am." Ace said. They both stayed like that, happy to see each other, until Ace said, "I should probably ask Skates for some help with the burns." Amy nodded and they both walked around the lake, it was a bit hard considering that they still had their skates on. Once they had gotten to the other side, they took off their skates and put their regular shoes back on, then they began to walk to the exit of the forest, Amy stayed close to Ace again, but this time she didn't get the feeling that she was being watched. After a few minutes of walking they got to the exit, "Where to we go from here?" Amy asked, looking over at Ace, "We got south, we should be able to drop off the skates before we get there." Ace said, then Amy shivered slightly, "Are you ok?" Ace asked, "Yeah, just a bit cold." Amy said, Ace then created a flame in his hand and put it close to Amy. "Why didn't you do that before, when you got me out of the lake?" Amy asked, "If I did the explosion would have happened a bit after I started producing it." Ace said, Amy looked at him and nodded, then they continued to walk down the street. After ten minutes of walking Ace began running, Amy ran after him trying to keep up until she saw him stop. He was looking out at a what looked like a house that had been set on fire, "What is that?" Amy asked as she caught up to Ace, "That used to be my house." Ace said, Amy looked at him shocked, "I'm sorry." Amy said. Ace began walked to the ruins of his old house and began rummaging through the the burnt walls and bricks, "It was Dark Flame, he took the Chaos Emerald." Ace said, Amy walked over to where he was and grabbed his hand, Ace looked over at her and then back to the ruins, "Ace, you can always come live at the mansion, we have plenty of rooms." Ace looked back at Amy and smiled, "Thank you." Ace said.

It was around six thirty and there was a knock on Skates' door, he walked over and pulled it open, standing there was a burn covered Ace carrying a suitcase with smoke stains on it and Amy carrying two pairs of skates, "Hey Skates." Ace said, "What happened?" Skates paused then continued, "Nevermind, stupid question, what did he do this time?" Skates asked, "Let's see, he tried to drown Amy making me have to absorb his black flames to save her, he set my house and fire and took my Chaos Emerald." Ace said. Skates then put a hand on Ace's forehead and the burns disappeared, "Thanks." Ace said, "Do you have a place to stay?" Skates asked, "Yeah I'm staying with Amy and her friends." Ace said, "We have to do something before Dark Flame kills someone." Skates said, "Yeah, I know but what can we do, we have no idea where he is, right now the best thing we can do is find the Chaos Emeralds." Ace said, "Your right." Skates said, "Thanks for your help, but I should probably, drop this off." Ace said gesturing to his suitcase. "Ok, see ya." Skates said, then he closed the door, he then walked over to a box and began rummaging through it. Once he stopped h pulled out a white Chaos Emerald, he placed it in his jacket pocket and walked outside, he began running in the opposite direction of where he thought Amy and Ace were going. He continued running until he found a place with no houses, it was an old road that had many cracks and bums in it, "Dark Flame, come out if you want my Chaos Emerald!" Skates shouted. He stood there for a while until he saw a blurry figure walking towards him, after half a minute the image became clear, it was a dark purple hedgehog with dark blue strips, it was Dark Flame, "So you have a Chaos Emerald eh?" He asked, Skates didn't respond, instead he shot a blast of blue flames at him, "Don't want to give it to me, did Ace tell you not to." Dark Flame said with a smug smile, Skates clenched his fist and began throwing punches at Dark Flame, each punch was covered in blue flames, "Is that it, I'm disappointed." Dark Flame said dodging every punch, "Shut up!" Skates shouted in frustration. "Alright that's enough." Dark Flame said as he shot black flames at Skates, Skates was blasted backwards and fell to the ground, he instantly got back up and started shooting blue flames and Dark Flame, but to no avail, Dark Flame had become too fast, none of the blasts could hit him, then Skates stopped, "What's the matter, given up?" Dark Flame asked, Skates chuckled for a moment, "Do you find your death funny?" Dark Flame asked, "No what I find funny is that you think I would lose that easily." Skates said, then he raised a hand above his head, the Chaos Emerald appeared above his, he then put his hand down, but the Chaos Emerald continued floating above his head. Blue flames appeared on his hands and feet and began punching Dark Flame, he was much faster his punches were hitting Dark Flame in the stomach, then Skates shot a large blast and sent Dark Flame flying backwards, "Alright time to stop holding back." Dark Flame said, then his two Chais Emeralds began circling him, Dark Flame then shot a beam of black flame Skates, "You have grown stronger, but I have the Chaos Emeralds, now time to die." Dark Flame said as he began creating a ball of black flame. "Chaos spear!" someone shouted, Dark Flame turned around only to be hit by a yellow spear of energy and his ball of fire disappeared. Dark Flame and Skates looked to where they thought the voice was coming from, standing there cross armed was Shadow, "So this is the famous Dark Flame." Shadow said, "This is a surprise, haven't seen you in a while Shadow." Dark Flame said to the red and black hedgehog, "What are you talking about?" Shadow asked, "You don't remember me?" Dark Flame asked, "You better start making sense before I blow you to bits." Shadow said in an angry tone. "Why don't you tell him my full title." Dark Flame said to Skates, "Dark Flame Solaris, but what does that have to do with anything?" Skates asked, Shadow's eyes widened and he began throwing Chaos Spears at Dark Flame, "Die!" Shadow shouted in anger, each of his blasts were missing Dark Flame. "My turn." Dark Flame said, then he began shouting blasts of black flame at Shadow and Skates. Both of them were able to dodge the attacks, "We can't run forever!" Shadow shouted to Skates, "I know!" Skates shouted back, then a ball of fire hit Dark Flame in the back, Dark Flame turned around to find Ace, Sonic and Silver standing in front of him, "Still alive." Dark Flame said to Ace, "You really think it would be that easy?" Ace asked him, "Hey Shadow, need a little help?" Sonic asked him smiling from ear to ear, "You think you could do any better?" Shadow asked, "Look who it is, my other murders." Dark Flame said, "What are you talking about Silver asked as he became glowing turquoise, "He is Solaris!" Shadow shouted to him, then broken bits of the road became glowing the same colour as Silver and went flying at Dark Flame. Two Chaos Emeralds fell to the ground, "Chaos control!" Skates shouted, then he, Ace, Shadow, Silver, Sonic and the two Chaos Emralds disappeared.

It was about six thirty and Amy was pacing next to the front door of her house, "Amy, wold you relax, they're going to be fine." Blaze said to her, Amy ignored her, "Please sit down." Cream said to Amy with a worried expression, then there was a knock at the door, Amy flung the door open and standing there was Ace, Skates, Sonic, Silver, and Shadow. "Ace!" Amy shouted and then she hugged him, "Did you lose something?" Ace asked showing her the Chaos Emerald Dark Flame had taken from her, "You got it back." Amy said, "Can this wait we have a problem." Shadow said, "What is it?" Blaze asked, "Is everyone here?" Sonic asked, "Yes." Tails said. Everyone walked in and gathered around Shadow, "We've found the true identity of Dark Flame. He is the reincarnation of Solaris." Shadow said, everyone's eyes widened except for Ace and Skates, "Who is Solaris?" Ace asked, "Solaris is monster that nearly destroyed all of time and space. It is the fusion of two beings; Mepphiles and Iblis." Tails said, Ace nodded and then said, "Then we can't let him get the Chaos Emeralds. He said before that he old be able to gain the power he had lost if he got them." Everyone looked at Ace, their expressions showed fear, even Shadow, though it was hard to notice, "We can't do anything right now, we have no idea where Dark Flame is and the radar isn't showing any signs of Chaos Emerald." Tails said, "Then we need a safe place to put the emeralds." Skates said, "We can put them with the Master Emerald." Knuckles said, "Master Emerald?" Ace asked, "Come I'll show you." Amy said pulling Ace in the direction of the stairs that led to the basement, Skates tossed Ace and Amy the Chaos Emeralds, then Skates walked to the front door, he waved to everyone and they waved back.

Ace and Amy walked past the movie sized screen to a steel door, it had a numerical pad, Amy typed in a six digit code on the pad nd the door slide open, a few meters away was a giant emerald with seven containers, one had a yellow Chaos Emerald, "This is the Master Emerald?" Ace asked, "Yes, can you place te Chaos Emeralds in the containers?" Amy asked, handing him the emerald she had, she then pushed a button on the wall and the containers opened. Ace walked over and placed each emerald in a container, "Is Solaris really that powerful?" Ace asked Amy, "Yeah, it was defeated when Sonic, Shadow, and Silver went in there super form." Amy said, "They have super form as well?" Ace asked, "You can go super too?" Amy asked, "Yeah, me and Skates and the oth-." He stopped in midsentence and began walking away from the Master Emerald, "What others?" Amy asked, "Its nothing." Ace said and he walked out of the room, Amy grabbed his arm, "Something is bothering you, please tell me." Amy said. "When we first started fighting Dark Flame, there were five of us, but Dark Flame changed that, people died for Skates and me, this time I won't let that happen this time, even if I have to give my life to save." Ace said, Amy looked at him with a worried expression, "Promise you won't."Amy said, Ace looked at Amy, her eyes there were tears in her eyes, Ace wrapped his arms around her and said, "I promise." Amy whipped her eyes and looked up at him, he smiled at her and she smiled back. They both walked back up stairs, no one was there, except Sgadow who was standing by the back door, "It's time or our rematch." Shadow said, "Fine." Ace said, Shadow then walked outside and Ace and Amy followed him, everyone was sitting outside, waiting for the fight to start, "Why are you in such a hurry to lose?" Ace asked, Shadow growled at him, "Chaos spear." Shadow shouted and he threw a spear of energy at Ace, Ace put up a wall of fire, the spear disappeared once it hit the wall of fire, Ace absorbed the wall fire and chuckled for a moment, "This guy is the ultimate life form?" Ace asked. Shadow began throwing spears of energy, all of them missed Ace, Shadow didn't stop, he kept throwing them, one after another until Ace caught one, "My turn." Ace said, he ran at Shadow and hit him across the face with the spears handle, "Had enough?" Ace asked, Shadow took of the two gold rings around his wrist, "Ace, run!" Amy shouted, Shadow then began glowing gold, Ace barely had time to react before Shadow began punching him in the face and stomach repeatedly, "Shadow, stop it!" Amy shouted and she ran in front of Shadow, he stopped as soon as she did and Ace sat down, "Are you alright?" Amy asked Ace, "If I can survive being blown up I think I can survive grumpy the hedgehog." Ace said smiling at Amy, Ace got up and everyone began laughing, "I have never seen Shadow go that nuts, nice." Sonic said, "Thanks remind me never to do that again." Ace said and they laughed even harder.
