Chapter twenty-five: The Pain of Forgetting
(Ace's POV)
"Can you please explain to me what this is about?" I asked, "Hey we don't know that much of what's going on. Tails?" Sonic asked, "Didn't he seem strange, I don't think it would have been that easy to beat Dark Ace." Tails said, then continued. "Also, that man said, 'three already' that must mean that that was only a fragment of the darkness that was living in Ace." Tails said. "He was the one who but the darkness in me originally." I said, "How do you know that. Wait, did you get your memory back?" Amy asked. "Not all of it, just that." I said, "Oh." She said, she sounded disappointed. That's happened before, when Amy first found out that I lost my memory, but, why is it always her who seems the most sad because of it. 'I have to ask her.' I thought to my self. "What do you think Ace?" Silver asked, "Sorry, what?" I asked back, "Sorry, kinda just dozed off." I said.
It was late at night and I was lying in my bed staring at the ceiling, I still didn't understand much about who I was, and now I know that I had this darkness living inside me for more than half of my life. I also didn't know why Amy seemed more sad then everybody else about me losing my memory. I closed my eyes for a while and when I opened I was somewhere completely different. I didn't recognize it but I saw Amy and myself, "Ace." Amy said, she sounded like she may cry, "Everytime you go to fight someone I never know if you'll come back, do you know how hard that is for me?" She asked. Was this a dream or a memory, it seemed too real to be a dream, "I'm sorry, but if I don't then you might get hurt, and I'm not going to let that happen, even of I have to put my life on the line." The other me said. Then Amy kissed him, or me, I wasn't really sure what to think of it, but I did know one thing, this wasn't a dream, and I needed to ask Amy if this really happened.
I woke up early that morning and walked out of the room, then I walked over to Amy's room and knocked on the door. After about ten seconds it opened and Amy standing on the other side rubbing her eyes, "Ace?" Amy asked. "Good morning." I said, then continued, "Amy I need to ask you something." She stopped rubbing her eyes, "What is it?" She asked. "Who are you to me?" I asked, "What do you mean?" She asked back, "You always seem to be more sad about the fact that I don't remember anything, and I had I dream last night but it seemed real. You were trying to stop me from going to fight someone and then I said that I was willing to put my life on the line to protect you. Did that happen?" I asked. "Ok, I'll tell you who I am." She said and hugged me, "I love you Ace, you've always been a hero that protected everyone, and..." She paused for a moment, then continued, "You loved me too. I thought that everything would work out, but then this happened." She said. "I'm so sorry, it must have been so hard for you." I said, she stopped hugging me and smiled at me. "It's alright, you're still you and I still love you." Amy said then kissed me. She stopped after a few seconds and then I smiled at her and said, "I love you too."
