night terrors

I didn't need convincing.

Right after Wally said it would be great to stay here for a few days I didn't protest. For some odd reason, I was ok with not going back to training, ok with staying at the Wayne Manor with my vigilante boyfriend's adoptive vigilante family.

Everyone filled me in on everything that went on at school while I was gone.

"ooo I forgot to mention but our little Timmy boy has a girlfriend~" Dick teased "our Timothy Drake? the nerd of the bat family? has a girlfriend?!" I snickered "I do not!" do too~" Dick sung out "do not!" do too~".

Tim crossed his arms in defeat huffing and grumbling "what would Steph say if she heard you say she wasn't your girlfriend?" Dick continued teasing. "Stephany is your girlfriend? like the popular, skinny, blond? that Stephany?" I asked in astonishment.

I can't believe he landed Steph as his girlfriend, I mean they both were hinting that they liked each other when we played spin the bottle. But I never thought the shy, nerd, Timothy Drake would be able to act on them.

"for the record, we didn't think that anyone could tame Jason, or that Jason could be tamed" Tim said trying to change the subject, it worked. What did he mean by tamed? was jay different before me? But before I could ask any questions Alfred called us down for dinner.

When we came down I didn't see any sign of Bruce. I asked where he was, they all said he was in the Bat-cave working on a case, I brushed it off and sat down at the table.

Me and Wally both had three helpings of parmesan chicken working on our fourth while everyone else was still on their first. Everyone was staring at us "what? speedsters have a big appetite" I said through a mouthful of chicken. Everyone laughed then went back to eating.

After dinner Alfred showed me to the bedroom I'd be staying in. It was fairly large, a queen size bed against the wall on the right, a nightstand with a lamp on either side of the bed. Against the wall in front of the bed to the left is a dresser and above it is a flat screen tv on the wall and at the end of the room on the left is the bathroom.

"I found one of Master Jason's t-shirts for you to wear to bed-clean of course," Alfred said "thank you," I said with a weak smile with that the butler closed the door and left.

I grabbed the shirt Alfred left me, it was a deep burgundy color. It smelled like Jay, I don't know how to explain the smell... it just smells like him.

My lips curled into a smile the shirt gave me something that reminded me of my home, Jason. I took everything off except my underwear and slipped on the shirt ruffling my h/c hair as I did so.

I slipped under the sheets of the bed resting my head on the pillow. Even though I haven't been sleeping well without Jay I still try to sleep.

That's when the nightmare started

I was in the dark. I couldn't even see my hands. Then 'crack!' lightning came down a few feet in front of me.

I tried running but I wouldn't budge. I tried calling for help but it's like my voice was raw, I couldn't get a single word out.

The lightning was getting closer, the ground was shaking with every flash of light. there was no thunder, I couldn't predict when it would strike.

At this point, I was shaking tears running down my face. I heard a voice that sounded like Jason's "I can't lose you".

"You won't" I tried to say but again it's like my voice was raw. I looked around trying to find where Jay's voice came from but all I could see was black.

Then another flash of lightning came down this time right in front of me. One more and he's lost me. I was balling now. I felt a familiar sting.

I shot straight up in the bed. Panting for air. Shaking like I was cold. I wiped the beads of sweat on my forehead with my shaky hand then pushed the covers off me.

It was pouring rain outside.

I went to Jason's room and found a clean pair of his basketball shorts and slipped them on. Then I went downstairs and sat on the couch, my knees close to my chest.

I've been having that same dream since Jason left on a mission with Roy a couple days ago

Why was I so scared of it then?

I know what's going to happen there's no sense in being scared. But I was.

Since I woke up I've developed a fear of lightning.

Every time it struck I flinched like it was someone threatening to punch me but never actually doing it. Counting, trying to predict it wouldn't help either. So, I just sat there a, flinching, shaking, sweaty, mess on the couch staring at the flames in the fireplace in front of me in the dark.

Then I heard a voice behind me "y/n?" it was Tim "what are doing up?" he sat next to me. "I could ask the same of you" I mumbled not taking my eyes off the flames for I didn't want Tim to see the tear stains on my cheeks.

"I needed more coffee" at this hour?" more espresso less depreso" he stated sipping some coffee out of a mug with the Superman symbol on it. "you ok? you're being unusually quiet" I..I'm fine" I stuttered "I know you well enough to know that you are not fine, what's wrong?" he was now standing in front of me.

I ignored him still staring at the flickering flames in the fireplace that were emanating a soft glow. Tim sat down on the coffee table in front of the couch, blocking my view of the fireplace and making him what I was staring at.

"I'm just not sleeping well, that's all" I fibbed. It was more than that but I didn't feel like explaining myself tonight.

Tim just sighed, then he sat back down next to me and put a pillow on his lap. The next thing I know I'm laying on the pillow in his lap. "wh...what are you doing?" I stuttered "just try to sleep, I won't leave". His 'I won't leave' made me feel safe. I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

This time no nightmare
