a/n:

this is a special chapter that features a specific black-haired doctor named wonwoo and a certain tall tan boy named mingyu.

if you remember the gun incident involving both of them several chapters ago, congratulations; you must have better recollections than i do.

anyways, this chapter is linked to that one, so thank you for taking the time to read this note, i apologize for the brief update, and i wish you all the best.

"i'm glad that you're recuperating and making such tremendous and rapid progress, mingyu," said wonwoo, pleased with the younger's growth and recovery, not just physically but also mentally.

mingyu gives the black-haired doctor a slight smile.

he was recently released from the hospital and is currently healing.

following the day of the accident, mingyu had changed, not completely, but enough for his doctor, wonwoo, to be concerned.

he rarely speaks, which concerns the black-haired doctor.

despite his little changes, the taller man's mentality is improving significantly.

and perhaps it wouldn't be several months before he regained his sanity and was released. in truth, he wasn't even a severe case; he was simply experiencing delusional bouts and hearing voices—at least, that's what his profile said.

he's not truly mad, and he's not even close to soonyoung's condition.

he had experienced a horrific event during his childhood and had been suffering from multiple personality disorder since the age of fourteen.

however, in the last several weeks, he has made significant progress, which has made many doctors delighted and relieved.

wonwoo asked, "would you like to eat something?"

mingyu said, "not yet; i'm still full."

"oh— okay," replied wonwoo, before the room fell silent once more.

wonwoo wanted to talk more, but the two seemed uneasy to each other out of nowhere; the older didn't remember when it all started, and he couldn't figure out why things were like this now when it was OKAY before.

mingyu breaks the uneasy and developing quiet between them by saying, "hey, doctor—"

"how would you feel if i became fully fine right now and could be released before the end of the month?" the younger asked.

"oh— i uhm, well, first and foremost, i'll be glad to know that you'll be like us, exactly as you've always wished, that no one will ever treat you differently, that you'll confidently walk around with your chin up, and that you'll be able to see your family and friends like you did when you were fine," wonwoo exhaled deeply before flashing a genuine smile.

without you here, of course, i will be heartbroken, and i will undoubtedly feel lonely and empty. wonwoo pondered, unable to summon the guts to speak those words to the younger.

even if he had the courage, why would he even say anything like that at a random time?

why would he be depressed and despondent?

"i will wish you the best and hope that one day you will meet someone who will not only complete you but also make you feel wanted and needed," he continued.

on the other hand, the younger is gazing at the brilliant blue sky.

"you said i'm improving, right?" mingyu asked, while wonwoo hummed back."and it wouldn't take me that long to get back to my normal self," he added.

"i won't be able to stay in there once i regain my sanity; it's not like i'm entirely nuts or anything, but i still suffer from this mental disease," the younger remarked."i won't be be able to stay in that place forever, doctor," the tan man continued. "the other doctors even mentioned that i'm one of those who recovers the fastest and that they're hoping that i'll be released soon."

"you're right," said wonwoo.

mingyu then turned to face the older man and asked him a question.

"doctor, are you happy— or are you perhaps not?" he asked.

the question caught wonwoo off guard, and he blinks.

he wanted to say no, that he wouldn't be happy if he's no longer there, but it would be incredibly selfish.

"of course, i will be, why wouldn't i?" the doctor said.

mingyu's brows furrowed at the answer.

"but then, why is your eye suggesting the latter? it's obviously contradicting your answer, doctor." he says, which the black-haired doctor finds surprising.

"I-"

"do you have a thing for m—?"

the serious chat of the two was stopped short as a familiar voice captured their attention and broke the building awkwardness in the atmosphere.

it was none other than yoon jeonghan himself.

"hello there, you two!" says the newcomer.

you're such a lifesaver, you came at such a perfect time. wonwoo thought to himself as he greets the latter.

"hey." wonwoo greeted.

"what are you doing outside? it's nearly lunch time; let's go eat now," doctor yoon replied, as wonwoo agreed and turned to face mingyu.

"let's leave now," he remarked to mingyu, who nodded slightly before rising from his own seat.

the three of them entered, but wonwoo couldn't forget what the younger was supposed to ask earlier; he knew what the younger wanted to ask, and if jeonghan hadn't seen them there earlier, he knew the question would slip out of the younger, and he obviously doesn't know how to answer or react; does he like the younger or not?

he certainly has no idea at all.
