as he sipped his favorite cappuccino, wonwoo asked, "so, mingyu, how was your study? is it going well for you?"

"it's completely alright, i could say that i'm doing fairly well," mingyu said with a nod. "but there are still a lot of things to do and pass, and i'm rushing around to meet all the deadlines and it's already quite tiresome."

wonwoo and jihoon were both advised not to let their guard down around mingyu at any time but it's not like the taller is suspicious or strange. as a matter of fact, he looks so normal that it makes it hard to believe that kind of possibility.

"you're right. time surely flies," jihoon said, never taking off his hat from the beginning."but hey, at least you're doing OK." he continued.

"And honestly, i kind of know how you feel about all the requirements in the university though, i've been through it all before too," wonwoo chuckled as mingyu casually agreed with his statement that is soon followed by another complaint about how his old professor treated them like a machine that wouldn't tire out after a long-ass lecture that sounded almost like a sermon.

wonwoo then exclaimed, "right, i remembered something."

jihoon said, "hm, what is it?" as if he had no idea what wonwoo was about to say.

the same goes for mingyu as he himself is curious to hear what the black-haired one has to say.

"how's your cousin?" wonwoo asked.

now that's a question jihoon didn't expect him to ask, talk about jeon wonwoo being bold.

jihoon once again realized that his older friend has always been as straightforward as ever.

jihoon then watched the tall tan guy's face to see if he was surprised to hear this question or if he was agitated by the unexpected mentioned of his cousin.

mingyu, on the other hand, was unconcerned by the question. in fact, his visage showed no signs of a reaction.

"oh, him?" mingyu asked, as wonwoo hummed in response. "well, we haven't been in contact much lately," the tall one continued.

"but i thought you were living with him?" jihoon questioned, puzzled.

"well, I used to," mingyu replied, meaningfully but the two unfortunately didn't noticed that.

after all, kim mingyu is a perfect actor.

wonwoo then asked, "so, what do you mean you used to?"

jihoon intended to ask the same question, but his black-haired friend is much more faster.

"oh. about that," mingyu responded, "well, after a month of being discharged, i looked for a part time job and rented an inexpensive but cozy flat."

"wait— really?" jihoon exclaimed, taken aback by this one unexpected fact.

"though i doesn't appear to be an independent person, i'm extremely confident in living alone," he replied.

wonwoo then asked, "so, where are you currently staying at?"

"well, my place is not that far from where we're currently at," the tallest said.

jihoon was once again taken aback at the newly acquired information and questioned, "really? are you serious?"

mingyu replied with a nod of his head. "i sure am," he said.

"so, does it mean—"

mingyu interjected between his statements, as if he had read the black haired doctor's mind.

"yeah, i'm not that far from the asylum, which is why i'm usually hanging out there when i have the time, but i'm way too busy lately that i haven't been visiting at all." mingyu cut off as both jihoon and wonwoo nodded.

the three talked for about an hour and a half, and jihoon and wonwoo were both observant enough to notice where the police officer and his men were seated in disguise, watching the now lavender-haired jihoon and his black-haired companion wonwoo converse with mingyu.

they were only a couple of tables apart.

jihoon casts a knowing glance in the officer's direction, indicating that mingyu is about to return home at any moment.

"well, it's wonderful to be able to meet up with you two," mingyu stated as he rose from his seat, as did the two doctors.

wonwoo smiled and replied, "same goes for me."

"so?" jihoon inquired. "i guess it's a goodbye for now?" he added.

mingyu replied with a quiet chuckle, "i guess so too."

wonwoo patted mingyu on the shoulder and added, "let's see each other some other time in the near future."

"if granted the chance to," replied the taller.

as the three said their goodbyes, jihoon gave the officer a glance as if to say that mingyu is leaving now, and the officer nodded and stood up from their seat, directing his men to follow him closely.

"so yeah, i really don't know what to think about this secret investigation," wonwoo remarked as soon as mingyu left the cafeteria as he put a bold emphasis on the word secret investigation.

the officer and his men discreetly followed the stated tall tan guy while keeping a good distance from him as both jihoon and wonwoo remained at their position for a little while.

"let's just hope mingyu isn't tied to his suspicious cousin in this matter," the lavender-haired jihoon said before eventually removing his hat and letting his soft lavender-colored hair fall gently, hiding half of his eyes.

he was finally able to take a breath.

"yeah," the black-haired wonwoo replied in a nonchalant manner.
