even though the call had ended several hours ago, jihoon could not forget what he had heard on the other end of the line.
how in hell did they not noticed the fact that the maroon-haired guy who happens to be mingyu's cousin, and who jihoon recently discovered was named kim jiwon, works at the same place where he, wonwoo and jeonghan are currently employed at?
is it jiwon who is particularly skilled at avoiding their radar or are they just oblivious with their surroundings?
it's utterly vexing.
it was still early in the morning, and the weather was so beautiful that it seemed to mock jihoon's sour and gloomy mood.
he's still considering whether or not to pay a visit to the asylum and discuss his concerns with his former patient soonyoung, but the prospect of running into jiwon, aka "mister suspicious man" during his visit terrifies the hell out of him.
Well, he could chose to ignore the red flag and fearlessly enter the asylum, or he could stay at home and close all of his damn windows and doors while the cops look for evidence to arrest jiwon at the moment.
"fuck this shit," jihoon grumbled, "i can't sit here and do nothing at all, i'm going." he firmly stated.
"no one will hurt me at all, no one can hurt me there, nothing horrible will happen, it was just a dream lee jihoon, nothing more than that," he told himself as he took his coat from the hanger and walked outside, towards his own garage.
he climbed into his black rover and revved up the motor, eager to get moving.
the doctor didn't want to squander any second if possible. jihoon was rushing down a busy street of seoul, drowning in his own thoughts, when his phone rang, interrupting his deep thoughts.
the lavender-haired doctor answered the phone without checking the identity of the caller as he quickly linked it to his wireless earplug.
"yeah, what is it?" he asked, his gaze fixed on the road ahead.
when no one answered on the other line, he furrowed his eyebrows.
assuming that the other did not hear him clearly, he asked again, "hello? can you hear me?"
however, the only thing that he heard was a barely audible shuffling noise, as if someone was moving carefully but quickly.
at long last, a green light.
he came to a complete halt and gripped the steering wheel tightly.
jihoon took the opportunity to check the identity of the caller but what he found was unexpected.
unidentified phone number
it was an unsaved contact of someone and he's pretty sure he didn't who this person is.
"hello? is there anyone there? can you hear me?" he asked repeatedly until someone responded.
the shuffling sound became more forceful and he swore that he could hear the person on the other line's breathing heavily.
other noises could be heard too, but he couldn't identify what they were.
"hey, is this a prank or what?" he wondered, his brow wrinkled.
if that's the case, he doesn't have time to waste on this trivial things.
"hey, can you hear me?" said a voice on the other end of the line, his breathing heavy as if he had just run away from something or maybe, it was a someone.
as he heard a strangely familiar voice on the other end of the call, he swore that his heart skipped a beat.
"yeah?" the doctor questions. "so, who are you?"
the voice seemed eerily familiar, but he couldn't recollect where or when he had heard it.
"listen closely, don't ever come back in the-" the call was cut short when the doctor was startled by a loud gunshot on the other line that the doctor almost lost his grasp on the phone.
the traffic lights had gone red but he hadn't moved from his location at all.
what was that person's name? was the thought that crossed his mind; it couldn't possibly be a joke.
who on earth would go to such lengths only to produce a joke as believable as the one he had just heard? no one would do it except if they're paid to do so.
"what the heck was that for?" he wondered as he clenched his grasp on the steering wheel and accelerated into the asylum.
his life has been flipped upside down since he took soonyoung's case.
his quiet and calm existence took a turn for the worst. he can't help but think it could passed a scene from an action movie.
he wasn't blaming the blonde in the least, he was simply stating facts.
he couldn't put all the pieces of the shattered puzzle together at first, and he couldn't explain why all the doctors who had taken the blonde's case ultimately gave up on him.
they can't abandon him simply because he tells them stories about his terrible and violent path towards murdering his victims.
well, if the doctor is jeonghan, then it's feasible, given that yoon jeonghan couldn't tolerate such topic.
but the fact that it wasn't only jeonghan who gave up on soonyoung; there were almost a hundred of doctors who did so, as well. thus, everything has recently become more vivid for jihoon and things are gradually revealing what they truly mean to him.
and if he ever wanted to put an end to it all, he knew that he needed to talk to soonyoung. the blonde definitely know something about it.
the asylum was only a minute away when the doctor abruptly hit the brakes.
i'm fucking desperate to know who the last caller was. he thought to himself until a familiar sight from long ago played in his head like a scene from a movie.
careful doc, a languid prey like you might fall for the cunning predator-
"fuck, was that soonyoung?" jihoon cursed under his breath, then laughed at the ridiculous idea at the next second.
"nah, that's impossible, he's inside the asylum as a patient, and as far as i know, patients don't have phones. maybe i'm just tripping."
