"attention. please find a safe place to hide into, i repeat, requesting everyone to find a safe place to hide into, there will be a temporary lock down of the institution, we apologized for the sudden inconvenience and thank you for your kind understanding," the speaker says, followed by the sound of the microphone being cut off with a loud echo.

it had been several minutes since the unexpected announcement was made, and luckily, jihoon had his office key with him, so he rushed to the fifth floor, where his office is located, and locked himself in while keeping an eye on what was going on outside.

he couldn't recall where or when he and jisoo had parted ways, but he hoped the latter was okay.

aside from that, he can't seem to think or wonder about anything; his mind is completely blank.

nothing but stillness could be heard and it was deafening.

eerie and suffocating

he despises this silence because it is consuming him.

he had no idea why, but he's pretty anxious about the current scenario he was in, or perhaps he was simply overreacting to everything that had been happening to him lately.

the doctor could hear various noises coming from the 30th floor building, despite the fact that he's only on the fifth floor.

even from afar, he could hear a loud patrol car siren reverberating outside the structure, as if it were approaching the area.

but why is there a police car siren? he had no idea why.

and his lack of information about the situation made him feel insecure and unsafe right now.

he has no idea what is really going on, and this is the thing that scares him the most.

what if a gang of thug or worse, a terrorists came knocking on his office door and kidnapped him?

that possibility was enough to kill the doctor to be honest.

his heart didn't bother to slow down and his quivering knees aren't much help either.

hiding beneath his table while clutching himself isn't exactly the safest thing to do right now, is it?

he should have dragged jisoo along with him no matter what, when he had the chance, so that he wouldn't be afraid of being alone right now.

the doctor's heart literally flew elsewhere when he heard a thunderous impact outside his office, not outside the building.

what was all the commotion about? as he tried to control his breathing, he thought to himself.

he shouldn't think of the worse possible scenario right now; otherwise, he might as well kill himself.

a booming male voice echoed from the outside after several minutes of unsettling noises, as if that guy was using a microphone or something.

fortunately, that person appears to be a police officer based on what he's saying.

although the doctor couldn't understand what the person said, it appeared to be some type of warning, asking someone to surrender before anything bad happens to both sides.

yet, that one little phrase had already loosened the doctor's remaining grip on his calm self and nearly killed him inside.

his suspicions were right; it wasn't just a patient getting away from his ward, but an armed man breaking in.

or perhaps the officers were referring to that one patient mentioned in the announcement earlier.

his thoughts, however, were interrupted as his phone vibrated in his pocket.
