We're all trying to win the same race
Never slowing down
All keeping the same pace
Attempting not to drown
As we paddle each stroke
As we run each stretch
Ignoring the fact that we're broke
Searching for something too far fetchedTaking what isn't ours with greed
Wishing for sunshine during the cold of night
Turning a blind eye to those in need
Afraid to climb just because of the heightWhat have we become?
Needing to keep a streak
Bargaining for likes on a post
Life is way more bleak
Than what we claim and boast
Yearning for a ding
A notification of some kind
Something to keep us comparing
Taking over and consuming our mindMore, more, more
We can never get enough
What do we need all of this stuff for
Judging wanting to "live it up"What have we become?
