I am a survivor
Broken and cracked
Masked and always overreact       -ing
Reassembled like an ancient artefact
     Just
Less important than one
Contrary to the opinion of some

I am a survivor
Charred and scarred
Barred up and guard     -ing
A sensitive heart
Stitched up and glued together
     But
Still more fragile than a glass vase
Which no one can comprehend

I am a survivor
Fire and burns couldn't turn me to ash
Ropes and belts couldn't break my neck
Knives and razors couldn't bleed me out
Drugs and alcohol couldn't put me to sleep

So... The semicolon
Continuation of a potential ending
Sending         A message

I am a survivor
A survivor of suicide
A story teller of lives and deaths
A cherisher of breaths        Tests
Days are tests
Tests of courage, strength, and stubbornness
To defy thoughts, taunts, and curses
To be a fighter
Instead of just a survivor

The semicolon...

I was a survivor
But now I am a fighter
Living life with determination to climb higher
And prove myself wrong
That I would only ever be
A long standing survivor

Tōshi
Japanese word for the will to fight
To not break and find your own light
So now, I am not just a survivor
I am a fighter
