to the sea

Chapter 5

Being on this ship has given me alot of free time it was hard to find things to occupy my time. My duties that i have assigned dont take me that long.

I decided to try and make some mates on this ship but it was hard because i am technically the new youngster on the ship and the others probably hate that i am here because Henry is nice on me but he is a really nice person. 

There were about maybe about five other girls on this ship which is nice but i wish they would talk to me but others had there own duties to take care of. 

I decided to just explore the ship but ultimately i was scared to because of the other people on this ship. 

"Henry would it be allowed for me to sit up there?" i ask.

"yes it is good and that is called a crows nest".

"ahh ok thank you".

He smiled and walked away.

i climbed up to the crows nest as i guess they called it and stood and admire the ocean once again. 

It was nice up here and i think i found my new spot as long as i can keep coming up here. 

I hope we are making port soon i need to walk on land and need to have different food.

Days on a ship either go by really fast or really slow and this one was going fast.

I noticed the sun was setting and it was more beautiful up here than seeing it from the deck. 

I climbed down to the deck and grabbed the mop and started mopping. 

I took my time mopping this time because it was occupying my time. 

The crew on this ship always gave me the dirtiest looks and its usually when they had way too much rum to drink and dealing with drunk pirates is not a fun thing.

Having Henry in charge of this ship makes everything a little better because knowing him before hand he is always looking out for me even though i have only known him for a few years.

Henry went to his quarters and the crew raided the food supply and i waited to eat because i do not want to hear them say to each other that i do not deserve this food because for some reason they think i dont and at some times they make me think that way also. 

there was barely any food left because the crew didnt supply very well at when we were at port royal but i should of known better and hid my own supply.

I just went to my bed area and drank the cantine of water that i have.

once i saw some of the crew who didnt have to be on the deck at night and went around the living quarters and picked up whatever i could to clean up and went on the deck to see what else i could do.

Being on the deck in the middle of the night was such a different experience it was cold and could not see anything. 

I did not know how edward did it. Edward took over sailing when Henry went to sleep at night then when Henry got up Edward would sleep. 

Edward was Henry's first mate.

I decided that to spend the night on the deck in the corner where i would think no one would see me. 

I fell asleep on the deck and it was more comfortable to the bed i was normally was sleeping on.

That morning i woke up to the sun beating on my face and that i did not like.

The crew has been up for a while and i decided to find whatever scraps i could find of the left over food because i havent ate since yesterday. 

I found a few scraps of vegtables that did not look good at all but i was desperate. 

I cleaned up a bit and nobody was on the crows nest so i decided to climb out there and just spend the day up there.

While i was looking out to the sea i noticed that land was on the horizon and if we do make port we should be there within the day.

I noticed some of the crew were spilling their rum all over the deck and i was always so confused because these pirates value their rum and i dont get why they spill it so much.

I wish since rum was so valuable to them that they would lick it off the deck so it was easier for me to mop the deck but they never make it easy for me except for the select few that actually respect me. 

i climbed down from the crows nest and mopped up all the rum that was spilled all over the deck. 

after mopping i was waiting for Henry to not look so occupied so i could ask him if we were making port at the island that i saw while up on the crows nest.

i waited and waited and it finally looked like he was not busy. 

"Henry can i ask you something?" i say to him.

"what is it?'

"i was just wondering if we are sopping at that island that is coming up?"

"yeah we are we need to grab more supplies".

I smile "okay".

He begins to walk away "oh by the way how are you adjusting to ship life".

"it is going good and it is a hard adjustment but i am making it work".

he nods his head and i walk away. 

i went back to my bed quarters and make sure that everything was still there.

I noticed something gold in my bag and it was money that i guess my mom slipped in when i ran into her because it was definately not there. 

the voodoo doll was still in there and i was set for this new island that was appraoching.

I finally decided i was going to ask Henry about my father despite my mother wishes. 

At least if he decides to hate my guts and wants nothing to do with me because of my father then at least i would be on land rather then getting locked up or ending up in the middle of the ocean.
