story based on jade and perrie, jade is sick and perrie takes care of her (jerrie friendship)
Jade's POV:
I woke up to a burning sensation in my throat. I try to swallow and pain radiates throughout my throat and into my head. I check the time on my phone, 3:30 it reads. I groan turning off my phone, the brightness already made my head start throbbing. I close my eyes and try to fall back to sleep.
I wake up again close to 5 and decide just to get up, knowing I won't be sleeping. We're on tour but luckily we don't have a show tonight, just an interview so I should be fine. I get out of my bunk and quietly walk over to the couch. Nobody was awake because they would've heard me get up and follow me most likely. I grab an Advil from the cabinet and snuggle under a blanket. I turned on Aladdin and watched in silence. I must've dozed off at some point because I woke up to the sound of a cabinet closing. My head shot up and "Sorry," was heard from someone. When they stepped closer, I realize its Perrie awake. "What are you doing up so early?" she asked. "I could ask the same to you," I said with barely a voice. "Do you feel okay?" Perrie asked when she heard me speak. I shook my head. "What's wrong?" she asked, rushing over to feel my forehead, "Babe, you're burning up." I put my hand on my head, which was hot, "My throat hurts a lot, I have a headache, and I'm freezing," I say. "On a scale of one to ten, how bad does your throat hurt?" she asks. I hold up eight fingers, avoiding having to speak again. Perrie's face fell, "Aw, baba," she said, sitting on the couch and going under the blanket with me. "Come here," she said, allowing my head to lay in her lap. She rubbed my arm until I fell asleep.I woke up to talking. I recognized the voices, it was Jesy, Leigh-Anne, and Perrie. I kept my eyes closed, not because I wanted to eavesdrop, I just wanted to go back to sleep. "Should we get the doctor to look at her," Jesy asked. "I don't know, I think we should but she'll probably refuse," Perrie said. She was right, I would refuse. I knew once the doctor sees me, I won't be able to go to the interview, or perform tomorrow. "What do you think it is?" Leigh-Anne asked. "I'm not sure. Jade has a pretty high pain tolerance, so if she's complaining, it must really hurt," Perrie said. They eventually changed the topic away from me and to something else. It was obvious I wasn't going to be able to fall back asleep, so I just opened my eyes and sat up.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" Perrie asked. I shrugged, "Honestly, I think I'm a little better. I took some medicine before I went to sleep, and it must be working because I feel fine," I lied. They all looked at me with suspicious eyes. "I can tell you're lying," Jesy said. "What? What do you mean?" I say. "I can see you wincing every time you speak. I can tell you're in pain," she answers. "Also, your voice is almost completely gone," Leigh adds. I look at me feet, "I just wanted to avoid the doctor. He'll put me on vocal rest and I won't be able to do the interview or show," I say. Perrie rubs my back, "Don't worry, you can still come, just don't speak or sing," she tries to reassure me. "I just don't want to let the fans down," I say. "You won't, they would rather see you sing healthily then in pain," she explains. I nod, "Okay, fine, I'll see the doctor," I say finally.
Perrie and I head to the tour doctor. He immediately takes my temperature. "101.3, that's really high," he says a little concerned, "How long have you been feeling this way?" Perrie speaks up before I can, "Early this morning," she says. "Okay, let me have a look," he says, looking at my throat, "It seems to be strep. If your not feeling better by tomorrow, I'll take a closer look but in the meantime, I'll prescribe you some medicine for you to take. And no speaking or singing." I nod, taking the paper.
We stop at the closet pharmacy, and grab my prescription. I take some as soon as we get back to the bus. "So, what did he say?" Jesy asks. "He said it's strep, but if it's worse tomorrow to come back," Perrie explained. "Aw, sorry babe," Jesy said to me, offering a hug, which I accept. "Vocal rest?" she asks. I nod again.
Perrie and I sat on the couch watching Disney movies until it was time to go to the interview. The interview was quick and easy, just a few questions about our new album and tour. We grabbed dinner on the way back and decided to have a quiet night in.
I plopped down on the couch for the thousand time today and turned on Tangled. Perrie came over and sat with me, putting her arm around my back allowing me to rest my head on her shoulder. Jesy and Leigh we're back in their bunks Facetiming their boyfriends. "You don't want to call Alex?" I croak out. "No, i'll call him before I go to bed. I want to stay with you," she said. I smile, nuzzling my head into her neck, causing her to rest her chin on my head. We sat like for a while. In silence, just watching the movie.
"Baba, I'm going to go to bed, do you want to sleep in my bunk?" she asks. I nod, she stands up and hold out her hand. I grab it and we start walking to the bunks. "What if I get you sick?" I ask. "I don't care, I want you to feel better," she says reassuring me. We crawl into the bunk and she puts her head on my shoulder, "Good night," she says before falling asleep, "and stop talking."
Sleeping was awful. I woke up countless times throughout the night. Sometimes sweating and sometimes shivering. I finally woke up again around three, and decided to just stay awake. I lied there, listening to Perrie's soft snores. The more my body woke up, the worse I started to feel. My throat was burning more than ever and my head felt like it was going to explode.
After lying there for a while, the sun finally came out. Perrie's alarm went off, causing her to wake up. She turned off her alarm and looked over at me. "How long have you been awake babe?" she asks, knowing I didn't sleep. I held up three fingers. "Why didn't you wake me up?" she asked. "I didn't want you to worry," I tried to say, wincing at each word. Perrie didn't have time to answer before the curtain was yanked open. "Hey Jerri- oh my god are you okay?" Leigh said once she saw me. I shake my head, which made it hurt worse. "Do you feel worse than yesterday?" Jesy asked, appearing in the hallway. I nod my head.
We walk out to the "living room" and sit. "I'm going to call the doctor," Perrie said, leaving the room. "Have you told Jed yet?" Jesy asked. I shook my head. "Why?" Leigh asked confused. I motion for them to hand me a piece of paper and pen. Understanding what I was trying to say, they handed it to me. I didn't want him to worry about me, I wrote. "Babe, don't worry about concerning everyone. We're here to help," Perrie said, reading the note as soon as she walked back in. "Text him," Jesy says. I nod and pull out my phone. I let him know what's going on and wait for a reply. "The doctor wants to meet in about 15 minutes," Perrie says. I nod and stand up to get ready. After I've changed and done a little makeup and put my hair in a bun, I check my phone. "Aww, why didn't you tell me sooner? I would've talked to you all night to make you feel better," Jed texted. I quickly reply back, "We can tonight."
We arrive at the doctor's office for the second time this week. He calls us back and starts examining. "She said that she feels worse than yesterday. Her throat is burning and her head is in a lot of pain," Perrie said. "Did she say that while on vocal rest?" the doctor asked. "No, she wrote it," Perrie said, laughing. He took my temperature again. "102," he said. "Can you open your mouth?" he asked. I open my mouth and he looks in. "It looks like you have a throat infection. Nothing serious, just take these antibiotics I'm going to give you so it doesn't get worse," he says, "I'm afraid you won't be able to sing or speak for a few days though." I sigh, I knew that was coming. He wrote my prescription and handed it to me.
On the way back we once again grabbed my medicine and headed back to the bus. We started getting ready for our concert. I won't be able to sing, or dance a whole lot, but i'll still try.
The show went decent. The girls or crowd sang my parts. I was able to dance through most of it though. Honestly, it was probably a bad idea, considering I feel worse, if that's somehow possible. We get back to the bus and I change into my pajamas. I went to turn on a movie and lay on the couch but Perrie beat me to it. "Want to snuggle?" she asks when she saw me. I nod and join her under the blanket. "How did you know?" I ask her. She smiles, "I just know you," she said. "Thank you for taking care of me," I say. "It's no problem baba, now stop talking," she says in a funny way making me laugh. I still hear her laughing when I cuddle into her. "Thank you," I whisper out again.
