Jade sat in her childhood bedroom. She was back in South Shields for a few weeks. The girls had just finished tour and had about a month break before they had to get back into studio and rehearsals.
Jade was set to leave for London tomorrow morning. She had been spending most of her free time with her family and friends back home so she had neglected the box of old items that her mom had wanted her to go through until that night.
She was already packed so she sat down on her floor and slid the medium-sized box over to her.
Right away, she saw an old trophy from a singing competition when she was young. She smiled at the memory before pushing it aside.
She then went go a large amount of the box. She tossed out a few memories from ex-boyfriends and smiled at old vacation pictures.
She could see the bottom of the box, feeling relieved seeing as it was about nine at night.
She reached down and picked up one of the remaining photos. She smiled as her eyes meet the picture. It was an old picture of her and her brother playing with toys on Christmas. Something in the corner caught her eye though. She noticed numbers in a yellow-orangish color.
She squinted her eyes and read the numbers: 25-12-92.
She frowned, re-reading the numbers. The photo was dated before her birthday, she would've been born the next day.
She shrugged it off, the camera probably just got the date wrong.
She reached back into the box and pulled out another photo. This time, the picture was Jade as a baby. She observed the picture carefully, it was one she hadn't seen before. She noticed the same numbers in the corner, this time reading: 14-07-92. A another picture taken before she was born.
She was growing curious. She grabbed the Christmas photo again, this time inspecting herself. She looked maybe one or older in the picture. In the second picture, she looked roughly 8 months old.
Jade decided to go ask her mom, expecting her to say "Oh the camera was broken." Something along those lines.
She took the pictures with her as she stood up from the floor. She left her room and started down the stairs, hoping her mom was still awake.
She sighed a breath of relief when she saw her mom sitting on the couch drinking tea, smiling at the brunette when she entered the room.
"Whatcha got there pet?" Norma asked spotting the pictures in Jade's hand.
"Uh, I actually wanted to ask you about them," Jade said growing nervous as she sat in one of the chairs across from her mom.
"Alright," Norma said looking interested.
"I found these pictures in the box you put in my room," she started, handing both of the picture to her mom who smiled upon seeing them. "They're both dated before I was born though, so I was just curious about it."
She hadn't been looking at her mom when she spoke but when Norma didn't say anything afterwards she glanced up, noting her appearance.
Norma had turned ghost white. She froze reading the dates noted on the pictures. She sat like that for a minute or two until Jade finally spoke up.
