i'm going to be changing this one shot book to be "jade one shots." for some reason it's easier to write one shots about her for me and lots of my requests have been based around her. so any other one shots that aren't around I will say in the title

a/n: this is kinda similar to lonely, but if you saw jed's instagram recently then you know the inspiration behind this one-shot

Taking a seat on her couch, Jade plopped onto the cushion and leaned her head against the pillow. Even though she hadn't done anything all day, she was exhausted. She was taking advantage of the stay-in-place order. She could have some time to work on her hobbies like piano and building a lego Disney castle.

She picked up her phone from the coffee table in front of her and turned it on. She frowned when she saw no new messages. This is the longest the four girls have been apart from each other and were constantly texting in their group chat to fill the space between them. Jade looked to the time and saw it was nearing dinner time, meaning the girls were probably pre-occupied with cooking for their boyfriends and feeding their pets.

Jade didn't have that. Sure, she had Holly and Zack with her, but it wasn't the same. They had spent most of the day in their separate rooms calling their family members, making sure they were alright during this strange time. Jade had filled the silence streaming the group's new song through the apartment, which brought her comfort in a way like the girls were there when they weren't.

She sighed, knowing that tonight's dinner was probably going to be something small and easy like some soup or a microwaved pizza, which normally she wouldn't mind but she missed the company of her friends and family.

She got off the couch and strolled into the kitchen before opening the freezer. She eventually found some microwavable meals and took one out. She put it in the microwave and typed in the appropriate time.

As her food cooked, she walked over to her dining room table. She took out her phone once again. Instead of checking for messages, she opened Instagram, hoping to like some fan posts and maybe post on her story.

It wasn't until she saw what was at the top of her timeline that her heart stopped. She hadn't looked at his name or even thought about him in months but there he was at the top of her page. She focused her eyes on the picture. Jed had his arm wrapped around a girl. A new one. A blonde one.

She had seen her around social media the past few weeks. She was an American actress. Jade knew there were rumors about them dating but she thought nothing of them. Nine out of ten times they are false, but this one wasn't and it hit her like a ton of bricks.

She wasn't sure why though. She was over him, wasn't she?

She could feel her heart slowly breaking the more she looked at the picture. She fought back the urge to cry. Why couldn't she just be happy for him. One of them needs to be happy.

She stood up from the table and quickly walked into her room. She needed the comfort of her bed and Disney stuffed animals that covered it. She closed the door behind her and practically leaped onto the bed. She leaned back into her pillows and wrapped a fuzzy blanket around her.

She then realized the picture was still on her screen. She quickly refreshed her feed to avoid the possibility of liking the post, which would spark rumors and more stuff she didn't want to deal with.

A knock on her door brought her back to reality. "Jade?" her flatmate, Holly, called through her door. "Yeah?" she called back, doing her best to cover up the sadness in her tone. "Zack and I are heating up some leftovers, do you want the food in the microwave?"

Crap, Jade thought. She had forgotten about her dinner.

"No, it's alright," Jade said. She was grateful that Holly had left her door closed. Being her best friend for so long, she knew that when Jade's door was closed not to open it.
