She stared at herself in the bright, well-light mirror that hung just above the counter in the on-suite bathroom. She slowly brought her hand up to her face and gently pressed her fingers against the purple and blue stained skin around her eye, wincing as soon as her finger made contact.

She shuddered and jerked her hand down from her face. She dug through multiple drawers until she found all the tools she needed to cover it up.

First some primer, followed by some color-corrector, then foundation, followed by loads of concealer.

She saw the discolored skin slowly but surely disappear with each step of the process. She could do it by muscle memory now, it was one she knew far too well.

The brunette grabbed a brush and started applying powder to her skin. That was just what she needed to make the bruising disappear completely.

She avoided any other makeup to avoid setting off suspicion.

It was a rehearsal day. No one wore makeup to them and the last thing she needed was to be questioned on where she was going afterwards all "dressed up."

The small girl wasn't sure she would be able to lie on the spot, especially not after the night she had.

"Jade?"

"Jade!"

The girl shot up out of bed and threw the covers off of her. She bolted through the hallway and down the stairs.

She knew if he was kept waiting too long, it would only be worse.

"Yeah?" Jade asked as soon as she reached the bottom of the staircase, trying to regain her breathe.

"Come here."

She mentally nodded and followed the voice that led her into the kitchen.

"Do you need something?" she asked sweetly, motioning to the pantry and the fridge.

"No," he mumbled. "I need you."

Jade could feel her heart beat a little faster than before. She knew what he wanted but she didn't feel the same right now.

When she didn't say anything, he took a few steps closer to her before putting his arms on her shoulders and placing his lips on hers.

She pulled away when she smelt the alcohol in his breathe.

"You're drunk?" she said more as a statement than a question.

"No," he scoffed. "I only had one beer."

Jade looked at him and read his expression.

"Was that the one you had before you left or when you got back?"

The tall man rolled his eyes and tried to kiss her again, but Jade pulled away completely.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Me? You should be asking what's wrong with you!"

Jade immediately regretted what she said as soon as it escaped her lips.

"I didn't mean that," she said, running a nervous hand through her hair. She hoped he was too drunk to remember anything, that's how it normally went.

The man didn't say anything, just looked at her with a hint of coldness in his eyes.

"No, you shouldn't have."

Before Jade could respond, she felt a hand strike her cheek. She quickly put her hands up to her face as the right side of her face stung.

"Don't you ever say that to me again."
