a/n: would do you prefer i write really long chapters or split it up into multiple chapters if a storyline is a longer one?

12:35 pm the alarm clock on her bedside table read. After a long and busy day of interviews and promo, Jade was more than ready to turn in for the night. Her eyelids have been heavy since she got home and she couldn't wait to crawl into bed.

She began putting away her leftover dinner in small containers and placing it in the fridge. She decided to do a quick pick up of her apartment. She put the clean dishes from the dishwasher away. She re-organized the books on her coffee table that were out of place. Finally, she picked up some pillows from the couch that had fallen on the floor. It felt good getting the small tasks done that had been in the back of her head the past few days.

She yawned as she made her way through the apartment, shutting off each light individually. As the apartment grew darker, the eerie feeling began to set in. It was particularly unsettlingly tonight though. Holly, her roommate, was back home in South Shields visiting her family to celebrate a birthday, leaving Jade home alone for the week.

Jade normally didn't mind being on her own. She was quite independent already but lately her anxiety has been through the roof. Small sounds and noises from other residents scare her now when they didn't before.

She walked into her room and shut the door behind her as a precaution, if she couldn't see the intruder, they couldn't see her. She sat down on her bed for a moment.

Why was she all of a sudden feeling like this? Why couldn't she just feel safe in her home, she was an adult for crying out loud.

She reached for her phone that was sat on her dresser and pressed on one of her contacts, starting a new message.

Hey, what're you up to? :P

As she awaited a response, she walked into her bathroom and got her makeup remover out of her drawer. She began taking off her heavy makeup from the day. Her phone lit up next to her showing a new message from Leigh-Anne.

Just about to turn in. Why what's up?

She was rather surprised Leigh was still awake. She had basically fallen asleep in the car on the way back to the studio.

I'm just kinda on edge. Freaking myself out over nothing.

Leigh-Anne answered almost immediately. While Jade never said what exactly she was getting freaked out about, Leigh-Anne knew what was wrong.

It's probably from seeing the news in the studio earlier. Don't worry about it, just play some music and try to go to sleep <3

That's when it clicked. The past few days all news channels have been showing was a criminal on the loose. He had been responsible for a few break-ins in London.

You're right, goodnight <3

Jade shut the light off in her bathroom and plugged her phone in next to her bed. She walked over to her speaker that was sat on the bookshelf across the room. She looked through some song options on her old phone that was plugged into speaker before finally deciding on Harry's album.

As the music began to fill the room, she turned off her last light and climbed into bed. She scrolled through Instagram for a few minutes and was messaging back-and-fourth with Perrie, talking about their future plan to return home in a few weeks on their short break.

She gradually felt her eyes begin to close and set her phone back on the table before she drifted off to sleep.
