The sun shone through the living room window. Jade stirred as the sunlight disrupted her sleep. She laid in her bed with her eyes still closed, in hopes to fall back asleep. When it failed, she reluctantly opened her eyes and sat up.
She brought her hands to her head and sat for a moment before finally deciding to get out of bed. She looked at her phone that was sat on her nightstand charging. She paused and turned away from it, turning her attention to her bed.
She made her bed neatly and waltzed into the kitchen. It was still fairly early, so she wasn't too hungry. She grabbed a few pieces of bread and placed them into the toaster. She turned on the kettle and went back to her room to retrieve her phone.
As she walked back from her room, the bread in the toaster popped up and the kettle went off. She hurried back in and got her breakfast settled. After putting the toast on the plate and the tea in the mug, she took her stuff and walked outside onto her balcony.
She set her food down onto the small table and sat on the loveseat. It was still rather cold outside for London, so Jade grabbed a blanket from the couch and laid it over her. She leaned back into the couch and took a sip of her tea and closed her eyes, listening to the sound of the traffic from the streets down below as people drive to work and school.
The balcony was her safe space. Whenever something was going on in Jade's life, she would sit out there for hours. Thinking, crying, or just staring into space. It was her own private space that no one could take away from her.
As she ate her toast, she picked up her phone and turned it on. There was lots of Instagram and Twitter notifications. She wasn't surprised when she didn't see any text messages. Leigh-Anne had called a few days ago saying that she was going on a small road trip in Jamaica to visit some family friends and her signal would be out. Jesy was posting lots of pictures of her and Chris the past few days so she assumed that they were off somewhere. She hadn't heard from Perrie at all either, which was strange considering that the pair would talk or text at least once every other day. She just figured she was off with Alex so she didn't think much of it.
She went onto Instagram and started scrolling. She frowned as she saw fan accounts' posts of old Jaded pictures. She scrolled extra fast as she saw another post from Jed, one that had a picture of him and a blonde, the same one as before. She shut off her phone and sat back into the seat. She closed her eyes and let herself absorb everything. It had been about five days since the post that broke her heart, and she did not want to feel like that for the next few days.
She wiped a few tears away and collected her things. She walked back inside and placed the empty dishes in the dishwasher. She threw the blanket back on the couch and walked into her bathroom. She started the shower and waited for the water to warm.
After her shower, Jade walked into her closet to grab some fresh clothes. She wasn't sure what she was going to do today, but she knew she wouldn't be leaving the house. She was going to stay in her apartment yet again as she tried to hide from the outside world.
She picked out some gray sweatpants and an old sweatshirt she got from Disney World. She threw the clothes on and headed back into her bathroom. She brushed through her wet, knotted hair and put it into a french braid.
As she finished her braid, the light on something silver caught her gaze. She looked at it and reached her hand out to pick it up. She held the silver blade in her hand and looked at it closely. She noticed the way the brand name was engraved and how the lines on the sides were so precise. She found such interest in the small thing. The small thing that helped take all of her pain away.
