Iker watched Mia sleep sipping on his drink, he had been watching her since they had finished and he wasn’t sure what was going on anymore; in the few days that they had started their relationship, he had started to feel possessive of her.

Iker hated her being around other men and even Xavi had commented on the change that he had seen in his best friend; he had never seen Iker like this before and he could tell that this was the first time that he had felt like this.

Taking a deep breath, Iker swallowed as he continued to watch the Mia as she slept; he didn’t know what was wrong with him, ever since they had become intimate just after the Switzerland match.

Carefully Iker got to his feet as he ran a hand through his hair, he stared at Mia for another moment before he left the room deep in thought.

Xavi raised an eyebrow at his best friend as Iker stepped out of the bedroom and closed the door silently behind him; he could tell that there was something on his friends mind.

“Okay… what was going on?” the Barcelona player asked leaning back on the couch, he knew that Iker had been bedding his assistant for the last few days; however everyone could see a change in the goalkeeper, he seemed more content than usual.

Iker leant against the wall and looked at his friend as he thought about what was happening; he had never felt like this before and certainly not with Sara.

“I don’t know what is going on… it’s like all I can think of lately is her,” Iker said as he looked at Xavi, it was wrong of him to get attached since he had a girlfriend even if they were on a break.

Xavi chuckled looking at his friend, he wasn’t surprised since the other man was spending a lot of time with the brunette; sooner or later someone would work out that he was spending a lot of time with Mia.

“You’re getting attached,” Xavi said watching Iker, he knew that this was the first time in a long time that his friend had felt like this and had been himself; Sara had spent a lot of time trying to turn him into the man that she wanted him to be.

Iker stared at Xavi as he shook his head, he knew that he couldn’t get attached to Mia; sure she was something special but in three weeks, he would be expected to return to Spain and she would remain in South Africa with her family.

“I can’t be…” Iker said thinking about what would happen if he did, he loved Sara and had been thinking about how much trouble he had been through to get her to go out with him; he wasn’t going to risk that for anything.

“Mia… what are you doing this afternoon?” David asked catching up with Mia, she looked at him as she sorted through the papers that she had in her arms; she nibbled on her lip as she thought for a moment before she shook her head since she couldn’t think of anything.

“Great… I was wondering if you wanted to have lunch with me,” David said making Mia smile at him and nod as she glanced over at Iker, who was just returning from training.

She needed to put some distance between them since she didn’t want anyone getting suspicious about the time that they spent together.

“Sure that would be nice,” Mia said making David grin before he nodded his head, the two stood chatted for a moment as they discussed what they were going to do; she had to think about her future after Iker left and she was aware that he would lose interest in her soon.

Mia didn’t know what was going on but she knew that she was getting attached to the footballer and she knew it was wrong; he had a girlfriend of sorts and she needed to think about what was going to happen to her.

“So I will see you here in two hours,” David said grinning at her, he had been afraid that she would say no; he didn’t know what it was but he liked Mia.

Mia nodded her head, she smiled at him as she headed towards the lift as she thought about what she was going to do; she doubted Iker would be pleased when he heard that she was going on a date with someone else.

However Mia had been thinking a lot lately and she knew that she had to put an end to her arrangement with Iker; she didn’t want to risk her job nor her heart for the footballer; they both knew how this would end and she wasn’t prepared for the heartache that she would suffer.

“Mia,” Xavi greeted as he walked past the brunette, he had seen the exchange with David and he hadn’t been the only one; Iker frowned glaring over at the head volunteer before he looked at Mia.

“We need to talk,” Mia said making Iker nod his head wondering what was going on between her and David; he didn’t like the idea of her being anywhere near him and he hoped that she hadn’t agreed to go out with the other man.

Iker looked at Mia closing his bedroom door, she sighed running a hand through her hair knowing that he needed to focus on the coming match and not her; she just hoped that this wouldn’t cause trouble between them.

“I wish to put an end to our arrangement,” Mia said softly making Iker open his mouth surprised, the last thing that he had expected was for her to do something like this; he had been doing a lot of thinking since his talk with Xavi and he knew that his friend was right, he was getting attached to Mia.

“I can’t continue Iker and I’m sorry,” Mia said shaking her head as she watched him, this was short notice but she needed to do this; she had to think of herself before she got too attached and she got hurt.

Iker nodded his head stepping closer to Mia, he hadn’t been expecting this and he knew that he had to do something to understand why this came to an end.

“Why?” Iker whispered, Mia had kept a distance between them knowing that she wouldn’t be able to control herself if he was any closer to her; she needed to end things between them while she still had a chance.

“Because I’m getting attached… you belong to someone else Iker and I know that you’ll go back to her when this is all over,” Mia said taking a step away from Iker.

Mia needed to get away quickly if she wanted to stop the ache that was forming in her chest and she knew that maybe she’d been a couple of days too late to stop herself from getting hurt.

Iker swallowed nodding his head, he seemed to forget about Sara when he was with the brunette; she was slowly making a place in his heart and he knew that it was wrong especially when she was only meant to be a distraction.

“Okay,” Iker said softly watching her for a moment knowing that if they were both getting attached to one another then it wasn’t going to end well for either of them; they lived in two very different worlds.

“Thank you,” Mia said before she pressed a kiss to Iker’s cheek and left, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she had made a big mistake about ending their arrangement but she knew it was for the best.

Mia was sure that she had made the right decision, she was only going to get hurt if she carried on.
