Part One - Chapter Thirty-Two: Reassuring Talks

Iker frowned opening his brown eyes and looked around him, he rubbed his eyes exhausted having not slept well the night before after Mia’s little confession; it had played on his mind all night and had made him worry.

Iker looked beside him and frowned at the empty space where Mia should have been, his ears listened to see if he could pick up on any movement in the hotel suit and there was nothing.

Slowly moving out of the bed, Iker tried to think of where the brunette could have gone; he needed to find out what had happened between her and Austin, he needed to know if there was something that he should be worried about.

Pulling on his shorts and his top, Iker ran a hand through his hair in an attempt to get rid of bed head as he wondered what Mia could be doing; no one had anything that needed doing and everyone would be still asleep after the team night out.

Stepping quietly out of Mia’s bedroom, Iker paused as he spotted Andres stretched out on the couch; the two men shared a look before Anna appeared from her bedroom and moved to sit next to her boyfriend.

“Buenos días, have you seen Mia?” Iker said shifting uncomfortably, he should have known that he wasn’t the only one who had opted to stay with their spouse over night before training started up for the final.

Andres shook his head as Anna cuddled into his arms, he hadn’t even known that the other couple were in the suit let alone that anyone could have heard him and his girlfriend last night.

“She headed down to the pool about an hour ago,” Anna said smiling up at Iker, something had happened last night since Mia seemed eager to hide away from her boyfriend when she had left that morning.

Mia brushed some hair out of her blue eyes, she took a deep breath as she tried to calm her breathing as she looked at Iker who was stood on the side of the pool; the brunette watched as her boyfriend sat down on the edge of the pool.

“Morning,” Mia greeted softly as Iker pulled his shirt over his head, she watched him knowing that he had questions about what she had drunkenly revealed to him; she hadn’t meant to make him worry over nothing.

Iker nodded at her slipping into the pool and moved closer to Mia, who was wearing a red bandeau swimsuit with rope details halter; he knew that they would be okay, he just needed to know what had happened between her and Austin.

“I guess you want to talk about me and Austin?” Mia guessed looking at Iker, she tilted her head as she watched him for a moment wondering how to explain the tale of her and Austin.

Iker nodded his head pulling Mia close to him, he needed to know that she hadn’t been in any danger when she had been with Austin; it unsettled him that he had started a relationship with her that she might not have been ready for.

“I meet Austin when I was studying at University of Cape Town, we were taking the same course and we were both from England originally,” Mia said explaining how she had met Austin, she didn’t want to say too much to worry Iker; Mia took a deep breath as she watched her boyfriend.

Iker nodded his head watching his girlfriend, he wasn’t sure what he was expecting to hear but he hoped that he had misunderstood what she had told him the night before.

Mia watched his face wondering what was going through his head right now; she didn’t want to worry him over nothing.

“We dated for three years until we graduated and then he expected us to get married straight away, I ended things with him,” Mia said knowing that she hadn’t given him the answer that he was seeking and she knew that she wasn’t going to be able to turn his attention away from the question at hand.

Iker brushed some wet hair from his girlfriend’s face, he held her close knowing that he had to find out what she had meant by what she had said last night; he needed to know if Austin had ever hurt her.

“Did he hurt you amor?” Iker asked cupping her face, he watched her face knowing that he needed to know if he had overstepped when they had started dating; he remembered just how rough he had been with her and he felt a little sick.

Mia shook her head as she smiled up at Iker, she kissed his lips knowing that something was bothering him and she had a feeling that it was her words had made him think about how they had started their relationship.

“Austin liked to experiment in bed, whenever I did something that he didn’t like, he insisted that he spank me,” Mia revealed a little embarrassed about what her ex-boyfriend had liked to do to her, she blushed as she ducked her head down so that Iker couldn’t see.

Iker let out a sigh of relief as he felt a weight lift of his shoulders, he had been seriously worried that he had been too rough with her when they had first gotten together with tying her to the bed and such; however now he felt a little relieved that he hadn’t upset her in anyway.

Iker lifted Mia’s chin so that she could look at him, he saw no need for her to be embarrassed about what she had told him; it was mainly about her ex-boyfriend anyway.

“Have dinner with me tonight?” Iker requested looking at his girlfriend as he prepared to head off to the afternoon training session, he knew that the next few days were going to be hectic and he didn’t want to make her feel left out.

Mia paused as she ran a brush through her hair, her blue eyes looking at her boyfriend curiously as he moved towards her; his hand reaching to take her brush from her.

“Por favor,” Iker said kissing her lips, his body moving of its own accord as he moved to bring himself closer to her; he knew that he wasn’t going to forget about her over the next few days and he was going to make time for her.

Mia nodded her head as she ran her fingers through his hair as she broke the kiss knowing that he couldn’t be late for training; not only was he the captain and he had to set an example for the rest of the team, Vicente would not be happy if Mia caused more of distraction.

“Okay,” Mia confirmed out loud making Iker smile at her, he kissed her briefly knowing that he had to leave now; he couldn’t be late for the last few training sessions if he wanted to play in the final.

Iker was all too aware that Pepe or Victor would be only too happy to replace him if he was a no show; the footballer wanted to lead his country to a win the world cup.

“Go and I’ll see you after training,” Mia said knowing that she had things to do as well, the press department needed some help and she had offered her services since she still was a volunteer for the team; she needed to pull her weight and she knew that she could do this.

Iker nodded his head as he smiled at her, he didn’t know what he would do if something ever happened to her; he knew he’d hurt anyone who hurt her in anyway.

Mia watched as Iker left for training, she brushed some hair from her face knowing that she was glad that she had told him about Austin; it wasn’t anything big but she hadn’t shared the reasoning for their break-up with anyone.

Iker was special and Mia could see them having a future together.
