“So you’ve set a date,” Carmen said sipping on her coffee, her brown eyes looking at Mia as the brunette sat down across from her; she couldn’t believe how fast everything was happening and she worried for the couple.

Mia and Iker had booked their wedding for the 29th of December that year, they weren’t stopping for anything and Carmen was a little worried since Mia was speaking to her own family anymore.

Iker had informed his parents about what had happened, he wanted them to know that there was a chance that Mia’s family wouldn’t be attending her wedding after what Rosie had done.

“We have,” Mia said nervously, she hadn’t forgotten about the fact that Carmen had really liked her until a few months ago; she just hoped that there weren’t going to be any problems now that a wedding date had been set.

Carmen set down her drink and looked at her granddaughter, she sighed wondering why things couldn’t have been simpler and she was sure that Iker knew what he was doing.

“How is the wedding planning going?” Carmen asked watching Abigail have her nap, she remembered how stressful her own had been and Mia had no one to help her.

Mia paused for a moment, she had been doing so much in the past week to make sure her wedding was perfect that she hadn’t had a moment to herself.

Iker had been doing his best to help but the constant calls from her family to come home and leave Iker; they didn’t care that Rosie had lied or that she had hurt her sister, they only saw it as Iker’s fault.

“It’s going well,” Mia said carefully, there was still so much to be done and she hoped to have everything sorted soon; she didn’t want anything left until the last moment.

José Luis stared at his son as they stood in the kitchen, he was worried about Iker and he had a feeling that if they rushed into this then they were going to regret it.

Mia was a lovely woman and she was the mother of Iker’s child but things were moving fast and with the fall out with Mia’s family it was clear that the couple were digging themselves into a hole.

“Are you sure about this?” José Luis asked watching his son, he didn’t want either of them to get hurt and they had to think about Abigail; he feared what would happen if the couple broke up or separated because things didn’t work out.

Iker stared at his father, he didn’t know what had brought this on but he didn’t want his parents doubting him and Mia.

“We’re happy padre… we want to get married and we won’t regret it,” Iker said simply, he moved to check on dinner hoping that his parents weren’t going to be a problem; it was bad enough that Mia’s family weren’t going to be there for their wedding.

Iker was going to marry Mia one way or another and he wanted his parents to be there to watch him marry the woman that he loved and the mother of his daughter.

“As long as you are sure,” José Luis said nodding his head, he smiled at his son proud of him and all that he had done in the past year; he had everything that José Luis had wanted for him.

Iker nodded his head, he crossed his arms and chewed on his lip wondering how everything would work out; he had a feeling that things were going to get worse between him and Mia’s family.

“We’re having Abigail christened in November,” Iker said smiling, he loved the fact that he would get a small special day for his daughter before the wedding and it made him excited.

José Luis smiled knowing that Carmen would be thrilled at the idea that their granddaughter would be welcomed into their church; it was something that would mean so much to her.

Iker leant against the counter, he had no idea about what would happen at the christening but he knew that he didn’t want any trouble; Mia’s family would be welcome as long as they didn’t cause problems for the couple.

“You look worried,” José Luis mused staring at his son, he knew that things had been stressful and he was sickened at what Rosie had tried to do.

Iker nodded his head, he ran his fingers through his hair and he wished that he had an answer for what would happen; Mia deserved to have her family around but she refused to talk to them.

“It’ll be okay… I’ve seen the way that Mia looks at you,” José Luis said trying to reassure his son, he could tell how much Mia loved Iker and he was happy that his son had found someone like her.

Mia had been so supportive of Iker from the start and she was doing such a wonderful job with Abigail that it made José Luis regret ever doubting her.

“We’ll need to think about god-parents for Abigail,” Mia mused looking at Iker as they prepared for bed that night, she smiled at Iker as she pulled on her cream viscose chemise for bed.

Iker looked up from his book and stared at Mia, he knew that she was right but he wasn’t sure who they would choice; he chewed on his lip leaning back in their bed thinking about what she had said.

“I was thinking of asking Unai to be god-father,” Iker said looking at his fiancée, he was sure that his younger brother would be honoured and he wanted to keep Abigail in his family if anything ever happened to him and Mia.

The couple had talked about it especially since they didn’t want their child being caught in a war between their families; they had decided if anything ever happened to the both of them that Abigail would be raised by Iker’s parents.

Mia didn’t trust her sister not to meddle and she hated the idea of Abigail being turned against her father if anything ever happened.

Mia climbed into bed and smiled at Iker, she liked that idea and she was sure that Unai would love the role; he saw his niece whenever he could and Mia knew how much he adored her.

“Do you have any ideas about a god-mother?” Iker asked watching Mia, he was a little nervous about this; he knew that Mia wouldn’t be choosing her sister to take the role.

Mia paused for a moment, she nibbled on her lip thinking about her options for a moment trying to make a decision; she had a couple of ideas about who she wanted as a god-parents to her daughter.

“I was thinking about an old friend from school… we still talk a lot,” Mia said smiling at Iker, she could never trust Rosie with this and she knew that Catherine would be the perfect god-mother for Abigail.

Mia couldn’t remember the last time that she had seen Catherine Bishop face to face but they were best friends and she knew that Catherine supported her relationship with Iker.

Iker nodded his head, he kissed Mia wishing that this could be easier; he hated the distance between her and her family, it wasn’t something that would be easily fixed.

“Okay,” Iker said brushing his fingers through Mia’s hair, he loved moments like this between them and he was hopeful that they would have more of them.

Mia wrapped her arms around Iker’s neck and kissed him, she was so happy and nothing would ever take that away from her; she was going to be Mrs Amelia Poppy Casillas Trevanion and that was what she wanted.
