INT. PHYSICS CLASS – DAY
Flynn sits relaxed in his desk working out equations with ease. Behind him, Nikki and Jeff are quietly arguing.
NIKKI
Why are you even still following her?
JEFF
We rarely even talk.
NIKKI
Oh yeah? Where? In your DMs?
The bell rings. She grabs her things and storms out.
JEFF
Nikki, wait!
He chases after her. Flynn watches them, wondering what's going on. As he packs up his things, Clarke stops by his desk.
CLARKE
Hey.
Flynn whips around dropping his notebook. Clarke kneels and picks it up, skims it. Completely lost. Hands it back.
CLARKE
How are you so good at this stuff? It crashes my brain.
FLYNN
It's not so hard really. It probably helps that I love it.
CLARKE
Yeah?
FLYNN
Yeah. I could even help you. I mean, if that's something you'd want.
CLARKE
Definitely. We should hang out after school. Except, I can't today. We're going to that party. Are you going?
FLYNN
The party? Yeah. I'll be there.
CLARKE
Great. I'll save you a dance.
Flynn smiles as he watches her walk away. He notices a student standing beside him, waiting for their seat. Flynn hops up.
FLYNN
Oh. Sorry.
Grabs his things and heads out.
INT. HALLWAY – DAY
Abram turns a corner and slows down when he sees Nikkie and Jeff waiting at his locker. They look troubled.
ABRAM
Is this an intervention?
NIKKI
I'm leaving the band.
ABRAM
That's not funny.
NIKKI
I'm serious. Jeff and I are breaking up.
ABRAM
What? What happened?
NIKKI
We had a fight.
JEFF
About a stupid birthday comment that meant nothing.
NIKKI
If it meant nothing you wouldn't have sent it.
Abram composes himself.
ABRAM
You two are idiots. You do realize you're breaking up our band over a Facebook post.
JEFF
It's not Facebook. It's Instagram. How old are you?
ABRAM
Doesn't change the fact that it's stupid.
JEFF
Obviously, she cares more about one stupid comment than our entire relationship. When have I ever done anything that would cause you not to trust me?
NIKKI
Not once. Until today, when you thought it was so important to wish Steph a happy birthday on her post when you couldn't even write it on mine.
JEFF
I spent the entire day with you!
NIKKI
But you wrote that for the whole world to see. Now everyone's going to think you still care about her much more than you care about me. When was the last time you liked any of my photos?
JEFF
That doesn't mean anything?
NIKKI
To me, it does.
She takes off the key hanging from a chain around her neck.
NIKKI
I won't be needing this anymore.
She tosses it at him and walks away. Angry and heartbroken, Jeff looks at the key in his palm. He takes off in the opposite direction as Flynn approaches.
FLYNN
Hey, Jeff.
Jeff walks by without a word. Flynn looks to Abram.
FLYNN (CONT'D)
What just happened?
ABRAM
