INT. ART ROOM – DAY

Torie is giving out slips and instructions to students as they drop off their artwork. Jaxson walks up. Torie ignores him and continues to busy herself.

JAXSON

Is it safe to talk to you now, or should I be watching my back for your secret service?

TORIE

I'm kind of in the middle of something right now.

JAXSON

When is it ever going to be a good time? You won't answer any of my calls. We haven't spoken since that night. You won't give me a chance to explain myself.

TORIE

What is there to explain? You cheated on me. End of story.

JAXSON

It was one time. It never happened again. I promise you. She kept trying to perpetuate the situation, but I ended all of that. That's what happened at the party. I cut her off. If I could take it all back, I would.

TORIE

You shouldn't have let it happen in the first place. What was the point?

JAXSON

I messed up, but I'm sorry. I love you. You know that.

TORIE

Then maybe you should have done a better job showing it. Now can you please leave?

JAXSON

If that's what you really want. I'll go.

As Jaxson walks away, Savannah enters holding her ceramic tree. She walks up to Torie.

SAVANNAH

Hey, are you okay?

TORIE

I'll be fine. (re: ceramic tree) Are you sure you want to give that away? It's beautiful.

SAVANNAH

I'm hoping it might inspire someone else. Where should I put it?

TORIE

Anywhere in the back. Here you go.

She hands her a slip. Savannah takes her tree and goes to one of the back tables. Fills out the slip. Vance moseys over. He points out his project.

VANCE

You see that melting frog over there? That's mine.

Savannah is a little annoyed, but she plays along.

SAVANNAH

Good job.

VANCE

Thanks. Mrs. Baschier's the one who thought I should donate it. She says it's for a good cause, but I think she just wanted it out of the room. (re: Savannah's tree) This is yours? Not bad. Pretty good, actually. Did you give it a name?
