EXT. SENIOR FESTIVAL/ART TENT – DAY
Tables are set up inside the tent loaded with boxes of artwork. Torie's taking a selfie as Abram carries over another box of donations.
ABRAM
Boss lady, where do you want these?
TORIE
You volunteered?
ABRAM
It's complicated.
Torie views her photo, dissatisfied.
TORIE (CONT'D)
You can just put it on one of the tables.
She holds up her phone again for a second go. Messes with her hair. Abram sits down the box.
TORIE
My hair does not want to cooperate today.
ABRAM
Maybe if you didn't care so much about what other people think, you wouldn't be nosediving into insanity.
Torie snaps the picture.
TORIE
I like to remember the moment.
ABRAM
As opposed to actually being in the moment?
TORIE
Why do I have the feeling that you came here just to pester me?
ABRAM
It's my favorite part of the day.
TORIE
Seriously, thanks for coming. I couldn't even get my friends to show up. Not that I blame them. The problem with being an overachiever is that you rarely have time for fun.
ABRAM
I wouldn't know anything about that. But since I'm here, I might as well put my community service to use. What do you need me to do?
TORIE
Right now, we're just setting up the pieces for the auction.
She goes through one of the boxes placing the art on the table. Abram pulls out a framed painting.
ABRAM
Some of these are really good.
TORIE
I know right? Are you an artist?
ABRAM
Now I'm insulted. You know music is an art form, right?
TORIE
You know what I meant. I've never actually heard any of your songs. Do you guys have a Youtube or something?
ABRAM
We do.
Torie goes back to her phone.
TORIE
What's the name of your band?
ABRAM
Out of Order.
TORIE
Like your secret bathroom lair.
ABRAM
Like I said. Art.
Torie looks up their band. Plays one of their songs.
TORIE
I would have to agree. Why don't you guys perform more? You're really good.
ABRAM
Opportunities for us are hard to come by.
TORIE
So make one.
She sits her phone down and continues to unpack while Out of Order's music plays. Abram is struck by this. Why hadn't he thought of that?
