Alice woke up in a normal hospital bed , a new room. She had a better view of the outside world. A world she doubted she'd be seeing any time soon. It was raining, Alice couldn't tell whether it was morning or Night. Or in between.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She had all of her memories back. She felt okay again , besides the aching pain of the memories. But don't we all get that? She felt as if she had no energy Inside of her and her mouth was so dry she could barely open it without making a face of disgust.
She reached over to the bedside table , noticing the glass of water. She drank it as quick as she could.
Kind of just laying there, taking it all in , she didn't notice that a new nurse had slipped Into the room.
"Alice?" Alice looked over at the nurse and nodded.
"We've been waiting for you to wake up , we put you on some new medication..." The nurse went on but Alice couldn't pay attention.
"Why am I in a new room?" Alice said , it hurt to speak but she managed.
"We removed you from the psych ward , your old rooms were full."
Alice just looked at the nurse expecting her to talk again , but instead she handed Alice her pills and filled up the water glass.
Alice took the pills and sank back into the uncomfortable pillow.
Her neck and back hurt. A lot.
This new room sucked.
But she assumed they trusted she was better now that they had given her a room with a huge glass window that she could easily break and jump out of.
60 stories high?
Yeah that could do it.
Alice thought about the window for a while.
She Could see the sky.
It reminded her of days where her and Kid just lay in the grass , watching the clouds go by.
The clouds looked so much closer to earth from this point.
"If only he could see this .." she whispered, thinking that if kid were here she would sneak him onto the roof of the hospital. They could lay there watching the clouds from a front row view.
That would be their little paradise.
"But Kids not here .." she replied back to herself. Feeling her stomach twist into knots. She closed her eyes and tried to make the pain go away. But her love for Kid wasn't going anywhere.
She thought of the nurse , who took care of her back in the psych ward. The one she had trusted. The one who had turned her in. She couldn't trust anyone here.
Might as well fake it if she wanted to get out of here.
