She doesn't need a hero
She is the hero
These cold whispers haunt her
Repeating in her head
He doesn't need a king
He is the king
These lies follow him
Keeping him up at night
They are convinced
That they are supposed to be alone
To take the suffering head on
That only they can handle it
She doesn't know
That she is the hero of her own story
The knight in someone else's
The queen in his
He doesn't know
That he is the king of his own kingdom
The savior in someone else's
The world in hers
Alone they build a lifetime of skills
Gained in only a few years
Together they build a better environment
Created in only a few months
She doesn't need a hero
He doesn't need a king
But what they do need is each other
They just don't know that yet
So for now they'll go their separate ways
Both travelling a great distance
In opposite directions
Their hearts missing something
She will save villages
People will scream her name
She honors the fallen
She leaves the ruins
He will solve problems
People will cry from his answers
He doesn't stop thinking
He runs away from violence
She is the hero
He is the king
But no one knows
What they will become
They say they were meant for each other
His mind and her heart
His clever
To match her brave
They might end up
Being the villains in their own story
If they keep trying to convince themselves
That they're something they're not
She thinks she is a lone wolf
A general no one can match
The cold hearted soldier
The fearless warrior
He thinks he is a lone wolf
A dictator no one can oppose
The brilliant leader
The wisest emperor
They are both destined to be lonely
In their own stories they create
But no one ever told them
How to create new ones
They don't know how to start over
To erase this image in their heads
Their worlds and kingdoms all made up
Stuck in this fantasy
But I will be the one to tell them
To teach them
To show them
How to burn it all down
