Oh, how we fell
Out of favor
Out of mind
And off our temples
We dropped so suddenly
And now we're born new
We meld right into society
We resemble the people now
I watch my brothers and sisters
And the rest of my family
Once immortal and now sane
Find their place in this new world
Because times have changed
Some of it is good
But at the same time
Smoke flows through lost cities
We choose our sides
Tear stained cheeks never looking back
We've abandoned the heavens
And now each other
Love is now lipstick marked necks
And cologne scented pillows
With spite and unread texts
Holding hands with demons
War is now unsaid goodbyes
Fighting strangers in barren land
Ripped uniforms with torn ribbons
Ranks meaning more than purpose
Death is now insensitive
Everyone is accustomed to its touch
It comes with waves of grief
And a stable heartbeat
Life is now so busy
With dark minds and ferocious eyes
Hate spreads as people pass
Caring too much or too little
People have realized that we exist
Among their own and trapped in the crowd
Sitting in bars or dancing in the rain
Free from our relationships
But stuck with statuses
And powers to maintain
The balance in the world is offset
Our duty is to fix it
So as we mingle
And as you stare
Do not pray for us
Or to us
We aren't who we used to be
I can barely find my way
So I'll drink the alcohol of tomorrow
And kiss the stars goodbye
When we fell we didn't scream
Our silent cries were from the soul
Ripped from the palaces
And places of worship
You will see us in paintings no more
We will not be etched in stone
Destroyed by the blood in our veins
Forced to live through the years
